Got a lovely 6 inch crack in the front screen. Have called in for a new one, but is there anything I should know before they come out e.g. what colour tint it should be, different colour at top etc?
It's dark so can't really tell
Cheers
Ben

Odd, do a search on windscreen and it doesn't bring anything up. Do a search on screen and it brings up post entitled Windscreen. Thought I wasn't going mad
Looks like she's had one before

I'd be insisting on a genuine audi screen for starters!

Be careful Ben there are quite a few dodgy fitters that havent got a clue, I had mine done by Autoglass in Slough, I asked for a experienced fitter, I watched over the guy like a hawk. must admit he was perfect. No quiblles at all.
Ask for an experienced fitter and watch he doesnt put his super long stanley bade through your dash.

Yeah you should read my experience. I had Autoglass fit a new screen to my previous S4. I think it was them they have been bought over by RAC or RAC use them? It was basically a slightly flawed screen with tiny air bubbles in the tint area and the dots at the sides were irregular. Also, the fitters said their work was fully warranted and there should be no surprises. The surprise was that on the back of the receipt they state they do not warranty and are not responsible for poor fitting trim subject to stretching in order to get it off. In my case the rubber trim at the top of the screen had been pulled such that it was permanently deformed. None of this was major but just annoying.

PS On calling my local dealership to order and change the screen they told me they would simply call Autoglass!!

Autowindscreens are now the Rac Autowindscreens.
Autoglass are still Autoglass.
Yea agree with Golich............... Dont think when you get a new screen at main dealer it is a qualified audi techy doing the job, the main stealer will simply contract in autoglass/auto windscreens etc etc

Motorway rock - the Mrs was driving at the time so probably not much less than 110MPH. I got a call on the train from her saying that the car had just made a massive bang, I instantly expected something major but she said the car was fine.
This was the result:
Called Audi Cust Service and they told me that you have to get Audi to fit for warranty. They also told me that RAC Autowindscreens are their approved fitter and would only fit genuine parts. Luckily these guys are the ones my insurer reccomends. I called RAC Auto.. up and told them this, the bloke said Audi don't make glass and hence I wouldn't get it. He also told me he'd have to make a few calls and I may have to wait until after Xmas to get Audi glass. Basically contradicted himself.
Ho hum, I'll see what turns up.

Just had call from RAC Autowindscreens and they have ordered me one from Audi using chassis number etc.
Hopefully that should be a result
