Brake Upgrade Group

Post by simple1 » Fri Dec 17, 2004 5:30 pm

I have spoken to QST with a view to arranging a group buy for brake upgrade kits, either four or six pot Movit........... He is to come back to me with firm prices but it seems there may well be a deal to be had on the £2300 plus vat stock price, (this is the 6 pot kit)
Can I have a show of hands, I have made the first numbers as 3 6ix pot and one four pot kit, any further intrest???

I'm interested. I had been trying to keep the car standard for at least a year of ownership but the urge is too great!

Any more details on what sort of deals are going? Is there an option for front and rear brakes? i'm also assuming all these kits fit under standard wheels.

Phil,

forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn here (either that or delete my post ! )
With regard to the crews idea about banner ads. Surely that should only apply if the company is the one making the post or offer ?

In this instance Simon is trying to organise a group buy with who ever will give the best deal. Why would the retailer be expected to take a banner when it is not them doing the leg work ?
If this is true then perhaps whoever JR gets the millers from should have a banner ad, and Movit should have one too since flashy and davep's purchases. Where do you stop ?

I fully support your idea of raising funds for the rs246 cause, but think you need to be sensible as to your expectations of who should stump up for ads.

I did think of posting this on your banner ad post, but felt it made more sense to post it with this topic. Feel free to move it if you disagree.

Oh dear.
With this and my other post it seems like I've turne into a moany old git !! :biggrin2:

Totally agree mate. All the ads that you have been seeing up until the recent change have been for free.... QST, AmD, AmD USA, Revo, Thorney Motorsport have all benefited from free advertising and have all been approached to invest in further advertising.

We have risen to being the world’s leading Audi S and RS site, and I expect those who we have supported in the past to support us now.

Hope this makes sense, yer moaning old bag ;)

My initial contact was for front brake kits only, if you require rears too... then let me know.
I will also mention about the banner ad, when I speak to Kim.......

I'm not interested in a set Simon sorry, but just to make the post clear -I presume that the 4 pots are the porsche gt2 brembos on offer with the 380x32mm discs, and the 6 pots (movit billet?) come with the 370x35mm discs as per Dave and Gordons car and able to fit under the standard 18" wheel?

Are movit still supplying the brembo 6 pots (gt3) with the 380 discs for a 19" wheel only option or have they knocked this on the head now?

All I can say to anyone considering the movit upgrade and trying to justify the cost, rest assured that when you come to sell the car (and providing they have a little life left in them), you will be able to sell them on here and see at least half of your money back!!

I'm keen to upgrade my front brakes. What sort of prices could you squeeze out of Kim. Have approached Stoptech to source one of their kits and have it fitted by my local Hartge agent, but if Kim's prices are reasonable I'd certainly upgrade at QST. 6 pot prefered

What did Bushy have on his then? Pretty sure they were the same callipers you now have on your GT3 with the 380x32mm discs but you need either a 19" or the 18" winter wheel to house them

6 pots that dave and gord have are the new billet design from movit themselves (so i am lead to believe) and not modified GT3 callipers, think the reason they are able to fit under the standard 18's is because there using a slightly smaller but fatter rotors. Think these new billet callipers were originally movits design for the armoured vechiles. 4 pot kit still using the brembo gt2 block I presume.

Dave do you know what the swept area of the pads are for the movit billet?

Think the 4 pot gt2 callipers hold a 75.5 cm pad and the gt3 6 pots a 115 cm pad (squared).

Pass.............next question..........you will need to do your research first, what I have ordered is the new 6 pot Movit kit with discs as fitted to Gordon and Dave's cars

Indeed the 6 pot billets are Movits own calipers, made in-house at the factory....the discs are their own design too, made for them by a supplier...

They also do their own design 4 pots now as well....monobloc ones...I don't know whether they still do any Brembo modified calipers.

Details here specify a 108sqcm pad surface area for the 6pots :- http://www.movit.de/images/fly04.pdf

I think they do a larger disc (maybe a 390) that they can fit if you have 19"wheels...again with the Billet 6pots.
