Help !! Dead Speedo !

Help me guys,

The speedo cluster has stopped working - I mean I get the RPM but the speedo needle does not move .- No warning lights or DIS ..Any ideas before I take it to the dealer ( Dont want to spend £69 / Hour on Labour !! )

I would imagine this would be covered under your warranty m8.
Not paid for any repair on my RS4 since i got it in Dec-all done under warranty.

Don't know if you've sorted this out already but when I had a problem with the speedo on mine it was due to a sensor in the gearbox being loose. In my case it would work when the car was cold and then stop working after about 10 minutes. It also affected the odometer, as it would record about 2 miles for a 10 mile trip!

Audi fixed it on warranty . It was the sensor on gearbox !!

I occasionaly get this problem with my S4, however once the speedo has died the fuel gauge starts acting like a rev counter. Could this be a gearbox sensor or more likely a dash problem? Its just had a diognostic check at the dealers and they could find no faults.
