Limited top speed

Post by RS4ever » Sat Sep 25, 2004 12:51 pm

My Sat Nav has recorded 168mph as the top speed when the limiter cut in which equates to about 175mph on the speedo. In Germany of course. Not that there's much chance on those autobahns - too much traffic, too many road works, trucks in fast lane, people pull out first and then indicate, lane hoggers don't move over. Gets worse every year.

Just returned from Frankfurt myself, my speedo was indicating something around 280/290kmh on a clear section of autobahn. Very nice. :kissmyrings:

... speed limits become more and more popular!
Hope we get better road conditions soon, but you know: Germany is poor!

What is the Vmax of the RS4 if you would take the 250KMH limiter off? :FIREdevil: :yellowrs4:

The absolute max speed is limited to the final gear ratio in conjunction with the rev limiter (not speed limiter).

The latest Audi Driver mag has the stats on the final drive ratio and speed to revs. In theory if you had enough power and from memory I think it works out at 187mph at 7000rpm. But I'd need to check that.

1km/hr = 0.621miles/hr - 283km/hr only converts to 175.8miles/hr. I shouldn't say ONLY!!

When originally tested by the motoring hacks, I think they claimed to have got 177 mph with aid of sat nav. They were surprised because they had been told that car was limited to 155 mph, I know my speedo reads 165 when on limiter, theres was reading nearer 190 from memory.................

But, I forgot to tell you guys that I´m running 255/40 R18 thats 4% more in diameter than the stock 255/35 R18, so I was actually going 290 kph.

Best Regards

Zeke
