WARRANTY HELP REQUIRED ....GEARBOX....

hi,
hello too all ...
i am new to this so if it comes across wrong give me a chance ..
i have just (2 weeks ago )bought an rs4 with 36000 miles on it .
i have an issue with the gearbox ..
it keeps crunching into second gear on a quick change...if i take my time and let the revs die down it is ok .
i have been to the dealer and he says he cannot find the problem when he drives it .
i have been told to let it get worse then bring it back (i have a dealer warranty for 3 years).
i am a little worried that they will say i have caused the damage if i let it get worse as they say .
also after spending all this money on a jet plane i don't want to be driving around crunching gears like i am some kind of mr bean driver..
any help appreciated .
or comments to pass onto my dealer(listers)
thanks
paul

My first car had issues with the gearbox, was first thought to be clutch, but was then diagnosed as gearbox when I lost 1st, 3rd and 5th gears

Put you concerns in writing to the dealer. He'll take it a little bit more seriously, and it establishes an finite point in time where you have registered the issue.
Good luck !
PS. Do you have a Short Shifter installed ?

thanks for the responses .
my rs4 is a 2000 year model .
i don't have a short shifter although i would like one fitted soon i think it may give the dealership an excuse to back out of any claim.
thx

I have a standard car, and have noticed that there is a slight movement of the gear leaver when the clutch takes up. Its only slight and I'm not unduely concerned about it, but wondered if it is a common issue with the standard transmisssion lever.
I assume that a short shift will cure the problem.

Try South Hereford, they have a long assosiation with all things Audi quattro, RS and alike, they also are very resonable when it comes to mods and repairs..... they are trying to sell a 550bhp RS6 and have no issues with the fact it has been modded

It is a well documented fault, now there are supeseeded parts to fix the problem. I had one gearbox replace under warranty for crunching 5th and 6th and a gearbox rebuilt under warranty for beig notchy in 1st 2nd and reverse. It was a a bit af a hassle to talk them into finding the fault though. They even tryed to blame the short shifter second timei
