Service intervals

Sorry if this has been covered before but, as a new owner, I'd be interested in your opinions on the service interval.

My March 01 RS4 has only had one service in August 03 at 20492 miles. It now has 27K on the clock.

When I first picked it up a couple of weeks ago, a press of the button indicated the next service in 19K miles - now it's at 14K which is presumably down to a heavy right foot given that I've only done about 600 miles?!

Do I trust the variable service interval or get it done on a fixed basis given that, most of the time, it will be driven reasonably hard?

Many thanks

John

Mine was also set up on variable servicing when purchased, first thing I changed !

IMO go to fixed as a minimum, personally I change oil, filters, plugs etc at 1/2 the
recommended intervals, more often if I have done a lot of trackdays

The fixed service interval is fine for some, I would prefer to see a car of this sort serviced twice a year, once for an oil service and the other for full annual service, that is what mine has had regardless of the indicator especially as it gets the doodahs thrashed off it when ever it is driven   .

you dont only have to drive it hard to change the indicator.round town driving and lots of cold engine usage may also contribute.maybe the indicator starts at maximum which would have to be lots of carefull motorway driving to get 19k.
