brake upgrade
brake upgrade
i know a lot of people have gone for the movit brakes here and have been very pleased, these are 380mm and i think made by brembo.
brembo do an s4 upgrade which is 355mm 4 pot with drilled disks and quite a bit cheaper.
im sure this would be a big improvement on the standard 360mm 2 pots with solid disk.
anybody experienced these on the rs4 or have there own opinion.
secondly any complications fitting as these are for the s4.
thanks

For some time Mov'it brakes have been Mov'it design, not Brembo. The newest callipers are machined in house. Mov'it does not use Brembo rotors, in most sizes these are made to Mov'it's design.
You might save money going to Brembo, but you won't match the performance.
Some other tuners fit Brembo rotors and callipers, whilst these are good, they are not the best.

Are these Brembo/Movit barkes squealing like the standart/quattro sport ones?

No, if the whether gets a bit warmer and we stop at the traffic light for example they make loud noises and everybody thinks: Why don't they chanege these old brakes?
No difference if brakes are new or not!
(Had standart ones and changed for quattro brakes, still noisy!)

Whether the brakes squeal is dependent upon the pad material and driving style, provided the other appropriate steps have been taken. Pads like Pagid Yellow are highly inclined to squeal if used extensively. Quite a number of pads require re-bedding in from time to time, this helps, and an Italian tune up is always an option.

I'll be upgrading as well, once the standard discs need replacing. Having had the Porsche caliper (made by Brembo) 322mm upgrade on my previous car (VW Golf), I would likely to go for the Porsche 380mm kit (made by Brembo?).You might save money going to Brembo, but you won't match the performance.

But then I swayed by the Mov'its as James said, a lot of people have gone for this kit. Are the Mov'its that much better?
No sig, no RS4 anymore
sorry no, 4 pots were exchanged for 6 pots
GMBH rears went in the bin, no good to anyone
I expect you could get the S4 option to fit the RS, but in my experience why try going for the cheaper option that is still not good enough, you will end up changing again therefore costing more money
Just do it once, so start saving
Bushy

Can't beat a bit of boost!
i can also get porsche gt3 4 pots or porshe 6 pots at a good price.i know AMD use the gt3 4 pot caliper but would you use the gt3 disk,or do they make there own.they want £2600 for the kit,are you telling me disks and brakets with a couple of brake pipes comes to around £1900.
dont get me wrong i would love to go the movit route as i visited the factory on the rsdc 2003.there may be another visit this year if i go along, and im sure some deals will be struck.but at the moment i dont have 3k to spend on brakes and my fronts are not in good shape.
cheers

AMD use West Tuning to manufacture their kits using Brembo callipers and Porsche discs. Porsche discs are much cheaper than Audi ones. Ray West makes the calliper brackets and the bells to fit the discs to the Audi hub. Calliper brackets can be made for about £140 a set and bells can be had for about £250 a pair but you need to know where to go. Ray will not sell you these! You do the maths.JAMES wrote:i can also get porsche gt3 4 pots or porshe 6 pots at a good price.i know AMD use the gt3 4 pot caliper but would you use the gt3 disk,or do they make there own.they want £2600 for the kit,are you telling me disks and brakets with a couple of brake pipes comes to around £1900.
