Agree there John...from reading up here since I joined, the people who do sell up do tend to regret it...I think it's a case of not realising how good they've got it at the moment!

Give her a good clean inside and out, and take her for a proper blast....if you don't get a smile on your face you're doing something wrong. (Or take someone who's never been in one for a blast and watch their reaction!)

Not hijacking the thread - but....

many people sell up for many different reasons - end of contract - age of car etc etc - family. I also agree that there does seem to be quite a few for sale at the moment, but is that not to be expected at the end of a 3 year period (most are just 3 years old now)

From my personal situation, I LOVE MY CAR, I have even started cleaning it almost everyday. But then again I never ever thought I would be able to afford an RS4 (it has long been my dream car) - and have no idea what I would change to if indeed I was planning too.

For those selling, variety is the spice of life and good luck to you. If you do want another, the good news is theres always plenty for sale here.

Had her in for the 40k + belt this week and lucky enough to have an RS6 as a loaner. Makes you appreciate how good the RS4 really is (especially as they replaced a load of suspension bushes) and there really is nothing that I can think of I like more. Some fecker even wanted to buy the RS4 off me whilst it was at the dealers :D

Here's to the next 40k :kissmyrings: :jump_clap:

Gear box really - I found myself slumped in the seat, one hand on the wheel and the other looking for a fat cigar to smoke. I really wasn't that involved in the whole thing as all you need is one foot and one hand :D
Alcantara head lining was nice, and I wouldn't mind the RS calipers and cross drilled brakes on the RS4 but apart from that it wasn't really my scene. It had wood in it for gods sake

I'm keepin' me 4 for a fair while yet - even though the service ended up in 4 figures.

Cheers

Ben

I'm not going to go into a huge RS4/6 discussion here. But I had an RS4 for 2.5 years, and like you thought the RS6 was "boaty" when I had loaners. My situation forced me to upgrade - and I'm very pleased I did now.

The RS6 for me is a more complete package, It drives and handles much better than my RS4 ever did. On the edge it is soooooo much more fun for me, it scrabbles around like my scooby did. Obviously with the weight there are issues, but you learn to work around them. The thing with the RS6 is that until you really have it on the edge it is lazy, when you get it their it firms up and just gets involved.

I would not go back to my RS4, I am very interested in the next RS4 though. If they can "mix" the formulae of the old RS4 and RS6 into a lighter chassis then we really will have a weapon on our hands.

The gearbox is a bind to start with, but once you learn its shifting patterns it actually works VERY well. You can hold gears, engine brake, accelerate very fast, etc. And then when you are stuck on the M25 at 5pm you stick it into drive and chill your way through the traffic.

The gearbox is essential to the package - I will be looking into the DSG option if it's available on the next RS4 - drove a 3.2 TT and loved it.

I was totally fed up at having to let the car go. But I had no choice. I would have loved to have kept it but as I hardly even see it, never mind drive it, these days I couldn't justify keeping it. I will, however, probably get another one, if and when I return from Switzerland. I do regret getting rid of it but with it being sat in an airport car park most of the time, what was the point.

I take it you were running the stock suspension on your RS4 ?

Yeah.. I understand.. bit sad seeing your RS4 sitting there receiving no attention. :(

I bought mine with only 18,000 kms on the clock from a guy who had the same problem. He was always overseas and it would sit for months on end. It became a liability for him.

However, I'm sure it will go to a good home and will be well looked after. :D
