Another sick note?
Another sick note?
My RS4 is not pulling as strongly as it used to in 2nd and 3rd gears.
The engine is reving no problem, but the urgency in these gears is greatly reduced. The car is accelarating, but not how it used to.
At high speeds ie 80-130 mph in top gear the car is pulling like a train.
Any thoughts as to what the problem might be?
cheers

SPlit hose, seems like this happens regularly
The S4's used to suffer with this alot, more than likely no DTC error codes just not that much boost, get it sorted before you put too much strain on the turbos as they will be trying to produce too much boost which is leaking to atmosphere
Look for obviou loose hosees or splits, mine went at top rear of engine, just popped off, 5 mins to repair, or sometimes the small hoses tot he DVs fail, look there
Good luck

Can't beat a bit of boost!
Local garage seem to think its clutch from what i have told them over the phone.Any idea on cost for changing out clutch on an RS4?
Estimate so far 12hours at £60 +vat=parts. This sound about right?
Looks like warranty wont pay out on this either.
Done 2000 miles since i got the car and it needs a clutch already, despite a full check from the Audi garage i bought it from
Golich,
Should get into my e-mail later on today....Rottweilers got hold of my
laptop with the obvious result
Appologies for not replying etc.
Cheers

No probs, give me a shout if you want to come round.
So did you buy your's from Specialist Thieves? When?
I wouldn't accept a so called 'Audi approved car' with a clutch that's only lasted 2K from purchase, especially since your are talking £1200+ to replace. Get onto Audi customer care to see what they say. At the absolute least, I would look for them to contribute. - Never ask you'll never get!

clutch
Yeah ..the clutch is a bitch to replace...12 hours seems a lot though..a good mechanic can do this in one day no problems.
Make sure you don't put the OEM clutch back if you are going through the hassle of replacing the stupid thing you may as well get a really good clutch..the rs4 clutch is good for women driving the car...

Phoned another Audi garage to get a second quote.
Instead of £1100 inc vat my local garage wants,Camerons in Perth will undertake the work £680 inc vat.
I also enquired about putting in a higher rated clutch but was told they only have 1 type of clutch they usually fit to RS4s.
I dont mind shelling out for a good bit of kit and a proper clutch might be the way forward to start with.
As usual any info/help regharding clutch would be appreciated.
Thank f#@k for this site

AFAIK there is only one clutch avail for the RS4 from Audi. I think the lads are talking about an MTM or other non Audi clutch. There is of course a draw back to fitting uprated clutches they tend to be more grabby and stiffer. But not always and I certainly can't speak from expereince. However, there a few folks on here with non Audi uprated cluthes even lightened flywheels.
See the current clutch post.

No joy during the test drive with the Audi mech on Sat morning,in his opinion the car is driving as it should be.
The car was faultless through all the gears at low/high speeds.
Informed me that the RS4 clutch is self adjusting up to a point, and with the indicated miles 23K on the clock,he would be surprised if it needed
changing out already.
Also informed me that another customer has his RS4 running at 500bhp,with the standard clutch with no probs at all.
While up at the garage noted a avus silver RS4 with i think RS6 wheels parked up.Back window had a RS246.COM sticker on it.
Never seen this car before up our way...not sure if it was for sale?
cheers

All sounds a bit similar to mine when it went sicky bad
Quick check with vagcom showed exhaust sensors and vacuum fault from split pipe. Even though I have not tried the car, Audi says it is ready for collection
Tomorrow will tell the story
The symptoms of mine were very similar in that the car would accelerate but just felt like it was running on 200 bhp

Speaking from personal experience of Specialist cars mechanics some 2 years back, who ever it was that road tested my previous S4 on at least a couple of occasions weren't able to tell my car was 45bhp and over 60ftlbs down. It simply wasn't boosting.
I had only just bought my S4 and knew the car wasn't reving/pulling like I would have thought it should. I can only guess these guys simply don't road test these cars enough at full power to know.
Re a worn clutch at 23K - That's not unheard of - Mine had one 25K!!! and I've read of others on here who need clutches around 30K. The previous owner of my car was considering legal action when Audi refused to replace his clutch at 25K. Up to that point he told me had owned 5 Audis and put more miles on them and had never put a clutch in a single Audi. Audi Uk/dealership maintained it was driver generated wear n tear!
Give me shout if you want a comparisson with mine.
