RS4-Export
I had the fortunate opportunity most recently on vacation in Switzerland to get my hands on an RS4. And I must say it was quite a sweet experience. What a ride... I have but one simple question.... Why is this car not exported or found in the United States? Please answer if you know something about this...I would like to export this beast to my hometown... Any ideas?? Many thanks in advance... Susan

Thanks to all who replied.... Your information is much appreciated... However, I am looking for more specific information yet. For example, why does it cost so much to import this car in particlular? For what am I paying?...import tax? cargo shipping fee? Why does it cost 20,000 dollars, if in fact it does cost that much? Also, in general, is this car not exported to the American market? Is it because of the prestige of the car in Europe? The style and speed of the car? You would think that Audi would want to establish this car there. Any further thoughts on the subject? Sorry if I have too many questions; but I am very curious. Thanks again in advance.
owning an rs4 in the USA
Susan ...unless you are totally insane, like myself, i strongly advise against importing an rs4 into the USA.
Actually if you have a lot of money to throw away, Why not ?
First of all, these cars are pretty fragile and spare parts have to be ordered from Europe.
Depending on where you live in the USA, finding a good audi technician who will work with you, is rare....
The time frame needed to federalise this car is about 6 months today...it took me 2 years.
Having said all this, a german woman in cape coral florida has just imported a red rs4 and she wants to sell it for around 40 thousand euros.
I strongly reccomend that if you do import one...keep it OEM...don't start with aftermarket parts and tuning or you may end up like me..with a fast rs4 that keeps breaking down...Lol !
