I have had my RS4 now for three months.
Stage 3 MTM full exhaust etc....
But the brakes are standard RS4.
I noticed last week that when throwing it around I could get the brakes to hum quite quickly. This resulted in me nearly throwing it in a ditch when they just didnt stop the car.
I now have a judder on my stering wheel from a resulting warp to one of my front discs, which although very minor is a surprise.
Audi have agreed to exchange my discs under warranty.
I am surprised, because I would have thought that any car with 380 bhp as standard would have excellent brakes. They should be capable of taking an extra 20% of power!!
I have had a chat with Audi because I would like to know rather than them replacing my discs would they consider giving me the cash to put towards a decent set of brakes.
Now before you all rush and tell me theres no chance....i know, but if you dont try, you dont get. What I want to know is how many of you have had the same problems with their brakes. Let me know as this will add to my concern with Audi.

Reading some posts I know a lot of you have Movit brakes and calipers. But I have been in touch with a racing team in the states with the view of setting up a distribution agreement with them for their brakes. They have a history of four years of 24 hour and touring car racing with their own brakes which I know I could import for a sizable discount to Movit's.
Discs are 370mm, 10 mm smaller than Movit but they will run with 18" wheels and have six pot calipers.

Warning - if importing cheap brakes from the States and selling them in Europe was easy, everybody would be doing it.
In many European countries you have to get the brakes through the Safety Inspectorate before they can be used on the road.
Who is the 'Race Team', if they really do have a history of 24 Hour racing then they will be selling European sourced brakes anyway? Who would buy Willwoods, huh?

I'm not in a position to disagree with you, but what is wrong with Wilwoods ?

Its a depth of experience thing, really. Their customer base is rather different from what exists in Europe, and are they TUV approved?
Thre are any number of people who can come up with front brake kits for Audis, but very few can do the rear brakes.

watsonla, I had these problems. More precisely: the previous owner had warped the discs (don't ask me...) and it had similar judder when braking *lightly* (I mean it) around 80mph so I took it to Audi, it was past the official guarantee time, they said they would replace free of charge but as mine was a "grey import" from Germany to Switzerland, I'd be penalized and have to pay 1/3 myself. I was somewhat angry on the inside along the lines of "you guys build the super car but put in crappy brakes, so I have to get them changed, and as you imported too few to Switzerland, I had to buy it from somebody who imports them (btw, that garage has done 253 direct imports, on top of the official alotment to Switzerland) and you want to penalize me??? Anyway, nothing doing. They said that as it is grey import they cannot claim the replacement costs from Audi corporate and so Audi Switzerland was basically doing me a favor to take it on their books. As if was past the official warantee period I had to say this was cool with me.
