Can be done in about three minutes with small hand held item which plugs into diagnostic plug. Same with all VW, Audi range. I know, I got caught a few years ago, wife's Passat had 138K miles on it and 61k on the clock Came from main dealer too Only found out true history when it went back into another service dept to have a service and they realised the last time they had seen the car it had 130K on the clock.
Instant full refund followed by large bunch of flowers for wife, and she had done 8k miles in the car
Moral of story, don't buy unless you have the entire history and don't take the dealer's word that 'it does have history but they can't find it'

The Noggy one they had a while back was imported into Ireland in 01 but got registered in 02.
Mines a 51 plate (Sept)
