major changes --a monster

Post by quovadis » Mon Mar 01, 2004 7:13 pm

We recently changed a whole bunch of stuff..this is how an rs4 should be.
We managed this without the sportec's and mtm's of this world, and instead used a few savvy audi s4 guys, and a guy named eric who makes the rs4 intercooler front mount kit.
I strongly suggest this setup it really adds horses, and ensures your car is cool at all times.

Fist of all we changed the turbos that are reworked and porcelain coated. These are way more efficient than the OEM turbos, basically zero clearance turbos.
We changed throttle body, with a beautiful chrome piece and made billet adapters.
We took OEM fans and coolers out and threw them into a canal in miami.
The fans were replaced by 16 inch racing fans....you should hear these babies suck !!! Place a dollar bill anywhere near the front of the car and it gets sucked onto the radiator and intercooler !!!!
The oil cooler was replaced by a more efficient oil cooler, and so was the power steering cooler.
We redid all hoses for the coolers, and added a huge front mount intercooler with custom pipes and hoses.
All this costs approx 3'000 dollars....freaking cheap if you ask me.
I am running 20-22 pounds of boost, and the car is a thunderbolt..we are going to a 4 wheel dyno next week, but an educared guess would be around 500-510 hp.
We also installed aquamist and NOS.
The NOS is amazing...we made a custom NOS dispensing oval tube and placed it all around the intercooler.
We strategically placed holes in the tube to allow the NOS to freeze the hotter parts of the intercooler.
You guys should see the NOS freeze the intercooler instantly...everything turns white and there's a big cloud of white vapor....looks amazing...if you touch the intercooler your skin sticks to it !!!!!!
This time we also spent some time fitting the aquamist DIRECTLY AFTER THE INTERCOOLER and not before the throttle body.
There has been major confusion over the aquamist in the past...we have it sorted out.
The aquamist requires 1 pump, 2 condensers, and two 0.8mm jets.
Aquamist have also just come out with a progressive controller which is essential to the operation.
The only thing i have not been able to do is to write a custom sftware for my car. For this i have to fly in a sportec technician.
The car looks amazing and drives so quick It's scary.

We dynoed the intercooler on an s4 and got + 34 horses...so i can imagine we gain at least 25 on the rs4.
My exhaust temperature never goes above 12-13 hundred degrees which shows the car is running perfectly cool.
If any of you want a front mount with all parts let me know, and we can make these here, and send them to the UK.
You don't need an audi dealer to install these it's pretty straight forward.
How do i post more than one pic at a time ?

Eric from DUH helped me install just the third one made ( other than his prototype) and people gave me some [censored] for it saying it wasn't going to work, you'll overspool your turbos' etc etc. I couldn't be happier. NO LAG at all on an S4 with stage 6 kit ( O.CT ) and she really flies. Now i just need to add new heads/intake/tbb/cams and some custom sportec tuning at ASW and I am all set. Hopefully the end of march will be kind. Glad to hear you like the cooler, I'll bet Eric worked his ass off too ! How do like the oil cooler now that it is in ?? I like the setup it's perfect, just goes to show what crap oem rs4 parts are.
Eric had to custom make this one for the rs4, he will shortly sell a whole kit for the rs4's.
If i can friggin figure how to post pics ill show you the new billet adapter he made in polished in chrome.
How can his setup not work ? The front mount is 2.5 times more efficient than the rs4 intercoolers.
Also i don't know if you noticed but the car is much more nervous than before.
I know the difference is even greater on the s4 than rs4, but it has improved performance a lot on the rs4.

looks like you got the pic poster/attacment thing working. post some if you can with a shot staring over the engine, would like to see how how everything sits in there with the new adapters. I'm adding a RS4 intake mani/and RS4 TBB in the next month so I will have the same intercooler connection needs as what you just went thru. you drive this thing daily ? Also, looks like a sportec car, what do you think of their tuning ? I am looking to have ASW in Colo custom tune my ride here in march sometime. Just trying to figure out how to get my car there. Most transports want 900.00 ouch !!

sportec and colorado...
could you please give me the exact dates when they come to colorado ? I need to rewrite a new programm for this car.
If you can get the sportec tech to come to ft lauderdale they have a new 4 wheel windtunnel dyno at champion audi.

Looking like the third or fourth week in March. Wish the tech's could fly around. No go. Looking to try and get the car on a transporter to colorado so they can add some of the goodies before the custom tuning. Right now just trying to figure out if I want to replace the heads with 2.6 euro heads or port my existing 2.7T heads so they match the new RS4 intake manifold. Either way, hoping to get 400WHP, not sure what that translates to at the crank.

Pics look great. Wondered how the DV's hooked up, now I know. Looks like the rubber boots you attached to the adapters have a hook up for the diverter valves. Did Eric have to custom make those or are they available off the street ?

Nice Brembo Porsche 993 Caliper on the rear.. very nice setup

Intercooler looks amazing!!

So, this NOS does it work by cooling the intercooler rather than shooting it directly before the butterfly valve?
