Re: engine management light
Hello James,
Had a similar thing on an old car of mine execpt it kept cutting out the engine when accererating away from lights or junctions when the light was on. It turned out to be a sticking EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recycling valve). I might be completely wrong but from what I can remember this valve opens and closes according to engine revs to allow a certain amount of exhaust gas to re-enter the combustion chamber? The more revs on the engine the more it opens, if it's sticking it stays open when you come off the gas, when you come to accelerate again the valve being open more than it should be floods the engine with exhaust and kills it. Cure - new valve. Dont know if this is the same set up on the Audi.
