Hi Folks,

Just got home from my 2 weeks at work and the [img]images/graemlins/rs4-button.jpg[/img] is totally dead.....not a peep! The battery has totally discharged......this is not the first time............................... do you all have the same problems or where should I start looking for the gremlin that is sucking my power!!!! Look for gremlins!

Basically standard Audi wiring should not draw any power, except for alarm system which should last longer that 2 weeks

Quite often it would be an after market alarm or tracker device not connected to the correct feed

I had the same thing last year with my car as I didnt use it for 6 weeks when my back was bad, in the end spent £150 on a gold topped sealed battery, much better especially all the audio etc in my car [img]images/graemlins/1syellow1.gif[/img]

I've has this twice. First time I got a new battery under warranty and last time, just a few weeks ago, I just charged the battery & its been ok since but I now carry jump leads in case. I suspect its something to do with the alarm system but I'm not sure. However I only left the car a few days not 2 weeks.

I have the same problem on mine, keeps dying after one-two weeks of parking.

I'm about to swap the batteries between the RS4 and the Passat to see if it continues (provided they can be swaped).

In any case, I do have several addition components like the GPS Immobilizer (as all S and RS cars now sold by Audi France have it standard).

Btw, my car was made in July 2001 so that's about 2.5 years of battery life.

My old A4 did this just once. One morning, after about a week of not being used, the battery had absolutely no power. No electricals had been left turned on - just the alarm set. I recharged the battery and it didn't happen again in 3.5 years ownership.

Deffo an after market device fitted which has been removed and there are no visable signs of it, suggest you look at the feeds to and from the battery, ive had mine 2.75 years and never a moments problem, but there again i dont have any after market stuff fitted.

I have left mine in the garage, locked since Oulten park (November) till last week and it started perfectly. [img]images/graemlins/clap.gif[/img]

If you disconnect the - lead on the battery and put an Ohm meter between the lead and battery terminal you will show a reading which is the drain on your battery, if you then take a fuse out one by one you will isolate the cause and you can then investigate that circuit!

Just to clarify that comment, he means a voltmeter set to the amps range. Do not under any circumstances connect it reading ohms or you'll fry the meter. [img]images/graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img]

Although I do not think the base reading will necessarily be 0 amps. It would be useful to measure a "good" RS4 to give you a starting point.

Having thought about it further, it should also be pointed out that the reading should be taken with the ignition off as this is when the drain is taking place.

my car seems a bit slow turning over when i have had the stereo on and engine off.i think the battery has had it,has anybody bought one from audi,if so how much.should i go elsewhere although i would like to stick to audi parts.
