was just looking rs4 parts to my friends car. WOW, mtm exhaust toooooo expensive stuff. for sure quality design etc.

can somebody post me the pics of the mtm exhaust , i wonder how do they look like thnx...

by the way maranello exhaust from tubi is lower then half price of mtm [img]images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

The MTM Exhaust is made by Scorpion in the UK for MTM, people generally prefer the Milltek, for performance ,build quality and price.

Take care not to confuse an exhaust which is sold by MTM's dealer in the UK, with the actual MTM exhaust, two different things.

Hi Robin,
if you speak to Roland Mayer he had one story, and if you speak to Phil Millington he has another, but this is not the exhaust we are talking about.
MTM now have there exhaust manufactured by Scorpion, just down the road from Milltek and are NOT available for sale in the UK through there Consessioners QST, but maybe available to someone in Turkey.

I can absolutely assure you that MTM do not get their own exhausts made by a UK company.
My own exhausts have been individually fabricated in Wettstetten. However, this was because I requested an option to drop out the cats, run a straight through pipe and switch the ECU program to allow for flames out the back under full boost.
I asked for clarification as to who, indeed, manufactured their exhausts. MTM did not wish the name to be publicly disclosed. Like a lot of engineering businesses, they are tired of having their designs copied by others. Exhaust system manufacturers are no more scrupulous in this matter than any other jobbing engineering business, nor should one expect otherwise.
Did you get a chance to look at the Wettstetten exhausts at the RS slugfest in Hockenheim?
If you can get the pipes from each bank to nicely siamese together before seperating, you get the most amazing sound, especially if you open up extra pipes under full boost, I have not felt the need to experiment with Titanium or carbon fibre for the sound effect.
I can recall a C-Type JAg with quite the best/baddest exhaust you have ever heard, the whole thing was fabricated out of handbeaten copper pipe, awesome.

I was not aware that this is part of the service available at MTM.
Maybe they make the down pipes and the cats, but ive actually seen them in the flesh waiting to be shipped to MTM?
But hold on im talking about RS4s not RS6s and maybe your RS6 was one of the first done, Mike Cheetham had the same eperience with his when Milltek did his, funny because he now has the MTM one [img]images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

I believe that MTM believe that they got 'bitten' very badly by a third party exhaust manufacturer, I can't put it more diplomatically than that, its a matter of belief!
MTM built an exhaust system to order because I had some very specific needs, not entirely unrelated to bad behaviour.
The car makes a noise like no other RS6, it turns heads at the race track when the LMPs are blasting by, in fact it sounds more like a flat plane crank shaft engine. Because the second pipe each side opens up under boost, you can 'play tunes' with it when driving. Its particularly good when you blast by a bunch of Corvettes, slow down and then accelerate away - did you hear about the 'vette drivers who spent a night in jail after Le Mans?

I'm 'negotating' one right now, they are in rather short supply and I have a particular spec in mind.
As far as I am concerned its the most fun car I've driven in the last two years, more fun than the GT3 race car - and it makes you look very very good. Whatever Jazza and Tiff say, its the best German car available today. (Did I say that?)

My old A4 with the MTM KO4 240bhp upgrade had a full MTM exhaust system,it wasnt a Miltek,all the gear came off the yellow a4 avant demo car that BRM had when they were MTM agents and the exhaust WAS MTM's own and WAS UK manufactured,I heard Scorpion and Piper(?) mentioned.

they sold heaps of 286hp MTM A4's here in NZ prior to the S4 comin out. Much lighter than the RS4 and your can throw them about.

Yes,I liked it.
Mine was a FWD car but I fitted Racelogic traction and launch control which really transformed the car,it had AP Racing brakes,BBS 18in wheels,Koni/H&R suspension,electric aftermarket recaros etc etc.......I prefer the feel of the A4 when going hard,it seems to feel firmer and more confidence inspiring than the S3,yet if you look at the speedo,you are probably going 20mph faster on the same stretch of road in the S3.Just fitted H&R anti roll bars to the S3 though,which seem to have sharpened things up a bit.
