Car Park Damage

So annoying, but it seems to happen regularly to a lot of people I know. Some git in an MPV has reversed into my driver side wing of the RS4 and creased it It has to be an MPV because there is no damage to the wheel arch or front bumper.
Obviously they didn't stop or leave a note. In fact given some of the tanks that surrey housewives drive around in they probably didn't even notice. However this has left me with a damaged RS4.
Can anyone recommend a good body shop / repair centre in the Surrey / Guildford / SE London Area? I don't want to go through insurance - unless the wing needs replacing.. Anyone had a repair / replacement done on RS4 wing, I'm sure it's going to be quite expensive.
Cheers,
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

By far the best body shop in the area is in Chertsey, but they are also by far the most expensive !!
They are the garage that Walton bridge Audi use (also used by the aston garage, plus some other specialist garages).
How does 800 quid grab you for a respray of just the tailgate on a Golf MkIII GTi !!!
I would highly recommend going to P & T repairs.
Unit 1, Dorset Way, Byfleet, West Byfleet, Surrey.
KT14 7LB.
01932 340046
They are just up from the Byfleet & NewHaw railway bridge.
I've used them twice in the past and cannot fault their work. Both times there were no visible signs that any repair or paintwork had been carried out at all.
Colbornes are the bodywork specialists for VAG around Guildford (I spoke to them on Friday ).
I have had repair work done by them in the past (a few years back now though) and refused to take the car as I was unhappy with the work. It would be worth getting a quote off of them though as a guide, as they are the approved repair centre. They are on the Slyfield industrial estate. Just past the VW garage turn right down the side of the storage place and they are at the bottom on the right.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
John.
(p.s. my visit to Colbornes was for a bit of warranty work, so had to use them).

i came back from shopping a few months back to find a nice dented wing and a black mark right under my side repeater.
just when i was thing was looking spotless !
but if you reversed into someones car or scratched a mirror etc would you leave a note admitting it ?? i would like to think i would but would you ?

This happened to my girlfriends GTI twice in the period of 3 months. Someone hit here rear bumper so bad in a public car park that they smashed it - that takes a good impact!
Then later in a different car park they smashed her door mirror clean off.
In both case no one owned up.
Then last year a drunk neighbour reversed his car into her first brand new car which was only 3 months old and well and truly wrote the wing off. And didn't admit to it until I approached them some two hours later after waiting for them to come over.
As some of you may know just last month I reversed my S4 out into my neighbours car. My stupid fault for not concentrating on what I was doing .
I was gutted and it cost me!

Did you simpy 'approach them' or did you chase them for 10 miles down the road and then wait in ambush for the next couple of days

my rs2 had the rear bumper hit twice, the first lady left a note, but the second just drove off ,if you hit an rs4 you know its going to be expensive so i think most people panic and drive off.

My turn. Not driven the car for a few days and in the pouring rain this morning just jumped in and drove off. Turned the wipers on and saw what I thought was a flyer tucked under one of the blades (I have to park on the street here in London, and am always getting them tucked under the wipers). Got to my destination and am horrified to find the "flyer" is actually a note from someone who had seen a minibus scrape my wheelarch. Sure enough there's a nice dent and a few scrapes on the front nearside arch
The good news is that the note has the reg of the bus, and says that it was a council vehicle. The bad news is that the witness's name and number are no longer legible from the note being in the rain (and me leaving it under the wiper) Which means I don't know which day it happened and have no way of contacting this guy, making it bloody hard for me to get the council to cough up for this.
Suggestions anyone for how to proceed?

IMO, you have 3 options. You have the reg and rough description of the vehicle so you can (a) pretend that you witnessed it yourself or (b) ask a friend to pretend that they witnessed it. The driver of the minibus, who must have realised he'd scraped you, would then either have to call your bluff (potentially tricky) or may just be tempted to confess as it is often no skin off their noses due to them being on council insurance.
Finally, you could phone up the council and your insurers and be honest. If the reg matches a council minibus then it gives your story a fair bit of credibility. Once again, the driver may own up as he has nothing really to lose.
Last thought is how much this would cost you in terms of your insurance premium over the next few years should you decide to claim.
Good luck, whatever course you take.

Sorry, this sounds a bit dense on rereading. I meant should all else fail and you claim off your own insurance. I was rather stung a few years back when I clamed and found out that a protected no claims bonus didn't protect me from a sizeable hike in premium.
