Headlight adjustment

Post by same » Wed Oct 29, 2003 11:57 am

Just had my car serviced and I noticed last night that they must have adjusted my dipped beam lower, this means that I can't see very far ahead while driving on motorways etc.

Is it possible to adjust headlights up without having to take the car back to Audi?

Many thanks

So where is the one for the RS4 Jon

I don't have my RS4 with me today, but don't recall seeing a beam adjuster.

Doesn't the RS4 have Xenon headlamps ? If so, they should be self adjusting. There is a sensor on the LHS wishbone, IIRC. Perhaps they disturbed it...

Yep they do, hence my question about the switch.
I wonder if you can adjust the height of these with vag-com...

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is an adjuster accessible from the top of the unit. If you look towards the back of the unit, then I think there is a whitesh allen key type adjuster. I don't have my car here at the moment to check - maybe someone else can confirm... If not I will check later.

yeah the headlamps are self levelling, and there is a white adjuster on the top of each headlamp that you can adjust with a screwdriver. I would suggest you be careful, they seem very fragile!

Before you go and break it, try this.

My guess is that the dealer has reset the ECU that controls the headlight range.

But you're only supposed to do that with specialist equipment.

AmD remap, APR R1 DVs, APR bipipe, Full Miltek exhaust
H&R coilovers, AWE DTS, Porsche front brakes, Short-shifter, 18" RS4 replicas

You can adjust it with a VAG-COM - there's a procedure listed on www.ross-tech.com for this....

Best wishes,

i would not advise adjusting your headlights manually with the adjusters on the headlight. they adjust the beam on the horizontal and verticle, with reference to the motors home position. and you can easily adjust them to illegal values.
