to all the owners who have the short throw shifters (tanonga, etc) is there any disadvantages in having it?
like does it make the gear changes a littl eharder to get into gear, etc.
i've heard tat the 1-2 shift can get a little sticky for the tanonga shifter.
will

I had a short shift on the S4, best thing I ever did, although, on cold mornings it does take a little more pressure to find the gears. This only last for a few miles until the oil starts to heat up. There's an awful lot of metal down there you know.

My RS4 had a UUC SS installed when I got it. I notice when down shifting from 3rd to 2nd its stiff and tricky at times, else it rocks and a great mod!

Please note that there is a guy on audiworld who sells "toy guy" SS's. He modifies the stock shifter, and all the audiworld US guys rave about it, and say its much beter the the other tradiitonal SS's. Cheapish too.

Have a look at this,

http://www.stratmosphere.com/strat_short_shifters.htm

I am currently using it in my RS4, which I think it is the best comparing to UUC and Tanonga. Better build quality and smoother action!

I disagree, this is the one that AmD fitted in my car, the lower junction where the 2 pieces meet has a nylon bush in it, not a bearing so what happens is the nylon wears and then this aids sloppy gear changes, in fact it may have helped my synchromesh give up so I personally htink this is [censored] compared to the Tanoga one I now have, which has a bearing in this location

Just my comments

Better build quality! Bullsh!t.
What experiance do you have of a Tanoga short shifter?
I don't recall sending a short shifter to you for comparison
Stick to the facts. You have a Stratmosphere short shifter and you are happy with it thats all.
Don't knock my product without justification.

I hated the gear change in my S4 so much, it was by far the worst 'feature' of the car. So I was very disappointed to find it the same in my new RS4. I read up on it on this site, particularly Bushy's experience with what he thought was a Tanoga... So I popped to QST one morning and had the Tanoga fitted.

As I said elsewhere on the forum, I've owned a few performance cars over the years. Impreza P1, Evo 6 Tommi Mak and with them all I've flushed dollars down the pan on upgrades and tuning. The Tanoga fitting on the RS4 is the best £300 I've spent on any car. Slick, precise, solid - totally transforms, what in standard form is verging on moving a wooden spoon around in a bucket, to something very driveable and makes you wonder why Audi didn't do something similar as standard.

Woo... Sorry that I've upsetted you, Tanoga!! Or anyone that using Tanoga SS.

Yes, you are right, you have not send me anything!! However, I've drove a RS4 in HKG that has your product installed, which I've found changes between gears is not as smooth as Stratmosphere. Also, it is a little more difficult to find the reverse gear.

Furthermore, there may be a chance that it wasn't installed properly for the trial and caused all problems above!!

I'm sorry to made you upset. However, this is my experience at the time. I hope you don't hate me because I am planning to purchase your lighten flywheel!!

No problem Bem, and I don't hate you. Respect
The problems you describe are all down to adjustment during assemble. I can contact the owner of the car that has my short shifter installed, if you give me their details, and I can give them same advice.
