I managed to get a cancelled order, so the car I got had been spec'ed by someone else. Said person decided to have colour coded mirros. I wanted Anodised mirrors, and thought while they were at it they may as well make the electrically folding, so in addition to the above I had to have the Anodised Outer Caps at about £600 + VAT.
So now the mirrors fold/unfold automagically on arm/disarm. Sometimes I fold them in when I find myself in a tight spot. When you know how much they cost to replace, you don't particularly want them damaged!!

I was thinking this was a good idea as i often park in London car parks
SO i emailed Martyn at VAG Parts and had the following reply
RS4's, you could spec the folders as an option. The mirror wiring looms, there are only two versions, left hand drive or right hand drive... so both looms must be compatible with the folding mirrors and the fuse board already for the folding mirrors... just plug in the relay/ecu.... too simple...!!!!
The mirror cases, yes they should just unscrew from the old mirrors and transfer them to the new ones. I've attached a screen dump from the parts catalogue for the mirrors.
8D2858531G3FZ NSF MIRROR £87.67+vat
8D2858532G3FZ OSF MIRROR £87.67+vat
4A0907440 ECU £33.00+vat this is just a relay that plugs into the main fuse box.
4D0959565G01C SWITCH £26.09+vat
Giving a total inc VAT of £275.46

So i have ordered them, i will take photos of the installation so others can do the conversion if they wish
And as the illustrious Mr Tidmarsh i will probably connect them o an output on my alarm
Nice one Phil
Thanks

I think not. Well as much of an option as having something outside the usual 6 colours .
Looks like the prices have come down. Good news people .

Great post

along with a lot of others i would imagine i didnt know that this could be done, but its something that i would really consider doing especially for that price. Bushy the more detail you could give to the fit the better, alternatively if there is a tuning house out there (i hope your reading this Doug)that can do the fit then even better.

I've had them on mine since new. Plumbed into the Clifford alarm to fold and unfold on arm and disarm.

ok took receipt of the mirrors - they have seven pins inside the connector block someone told me that this would mean that the mirrors are the electric folding type - can anyone expand on this, for some reason cant seem to upload pic either wise could show them for ref purposes.
