No 993T4 after all

Post by Ernie » Wed May 07, 2003 8:02 pm

Changed my mind & this time for good. I'm sticking to the RS4. 6 year old Porsche just too much of an unknown quantity though it was a close decision. Think I'll wait at least another year and then think again.

In order to make up for not losing money on my car by trading it in, I intend to spend some instead on going for a stage 2 (460 hp) or 3 upgrade (500 hp+). Work will be done by AMD.

Please can some of you out there give me your opinion on whether Stage 3 is worth it over 2. I know this must have been discussed many times but I can find nothing in the 'Tuning Section'.

How many of you out there have these upgrades and how will it improve my car above and beyond my current 430 hp re-map?

I would just do stage 2 , it's much cheaper, because you don't need new (modificated) turbos . Look at the prices!
And 50-60 bhp more is something you just feel a bit.

Hi Ernie,

I would agree with Conti. I think your 'sorted' Misano RS4 would probably have the following:

1. AmD/MTM Stage 2 remap (Note: May need some tweaking due to the IC's)
2. Miltek exhaust system. Downpipes, cats, etc...
3. Forge diaphram DVs
4. Movit brakes
5. GmbH suspension
6. Tanoga Short Shift
7. Sportec IC's with fog lamp out mod and replacement grill.
8. Laser jammer front and rear
9. Geodesy Plus Radar Detector
10. 19" MTM Wheels
11. Yokohama AML Rubber.

The above represent what I view as the best 'off the shelf' upgrades. If you want something different then you have to be brave .

- Is this list ranked by order of priority/desireability?
- WTF is a laser jammer?

The list is more or less how it came to mind. Different people will prioritise depending on they're use of the car. i.e. Brakes/suspension are a must for track use.

A Laser Jammer is a device which senses a laser signal and responds with it's own. This then gives the driver enough time to correct his driving as the police reset the Laser Gun. The system is legal as it is used to open automatic garage doors!! Target LRC 100 Laser Diffuser.
