Braking issue in wet

Hi,
I have a RS4 with 8pot calipers at the front. Two things, the brakes do bite when applied, but at higher speed they seems to lose that bite to a degree, but the worst thing is in the wet. It feels like rain gets on the discs etc. And when the brake is first applied there is no braking effect at all, until presumably water has been rubbed off the braking surfaces, very disconcerting!! .
I am running with Yellow Stuff pads. Has anyone experienced the same thing? Could this be glazed pads or something?
