I also read this and still own and enjoy driving my B5 :)

However, I am not sure if it will ever have the classic car status of say a UR Quattro or a Sierra Cosworth RS500 or the like or in our country an old 1960s/70s Holden or Ford, despite only 4000 or so b5s ever being produced and only 48 or so down in Oz.

As much as I really like Avants (also own a 335i touring) I think it will always be the limiting factor and I think the activity level on this forum these days is an unfortunate reflection of that.

Nevertheless I've had mine since 2004 and still has only 30k miles as I only use it for drive days so I have been inclined to hang on to it with newer cars arguably not having a leap in performance and/or getting much heavier.

My only mods are H&R bars and PSS9s (which as you know make a bid difference!) and it still performs as well as the latest Golf R or S3 which are mighty quick with their DSGs and tunes.

Though I would like to try something new with a DSG/dual clutch box as it gets quite busy on drive days with corners and switch backs coming up mighty fast. I will probably get a tune one day and put those B7 brakes on that have been sitting in the cupboard before I sell but in the mean time for country drive days it is plenty fast enough and handles great.

However, I don't expect values to increase in the near future regardless of miles as much as I'd like to believe.
