Yeah, car was nicked from Audi before they registered it, used/stored for four years and then it was found and registered/sold (by Audi iirc). Google the reg number, that should tell you all you need to know.

If it's stolen / recovered shouldn't it say so in the advert?

It was stolen before It had a reg so think it has a 'clear title' as the yanks would say.

One of my very first posts 246 was debate over this car when an Audi dealer was trying to sell it 'new' with 20k on the clock.....

I physically saw this car in August 2012 at Derby Trade Cars.
I had tracked it for years since IanC posted about it and thought how bad could it be?
Well if you imagine a car that was stolen, refurbished in 2004 by the selling dealer and then had a typically hard life and nothing spent on it beyond servicing you'd be there.
When I saw it, it had been warmed up and the interior stank of hot oil from leaking rocker cover gaskets, the smoke smell making it inside.
The paint was frosty, hard to explain but it had all been painted and it hadn't aged well.
I was trying to buy it cheap but when I saw it, it wasn't cheap enough!

Is it worth it? I have also had my eye on this for a good while and seems sensible money now. I know it has the 'Hidden History' but as a 2004 RS4, would it be worth a punt? I have my eye on a few others but this just keeps bugging me. It still is at Derby Trade Cars

If it was stolen and clocked up just ten miles by criminals using it for a bank raid, you would always be wondering what damage was done. However this one did 20,000 miles on false plates blasting around the country at night.....

I felt like this til I saw it.
I thought all the people that said steer clear just because it was stolen were wrong because some owners treat their cars no better and if it was tidy/mechanically OK then no problem.

However it would appear to me to have everything against it.

I don't know why Derby Trade Cars bought it as it was for sale with another garage in the Peaks for a bit.

I think the initials of the selling garage say it all..

Hmmm I think I will give if a wide berth then. I'm dying to get into an RS4 but may have to wait a while longer. It will be worth the wait I'm sure. Cheers guys
