Only difference would be the pressure. Cam is in contact with the lifter constantly, not sure exactly how mcuh pressure is involved, but its fairly high

well mine just went in yesterday for a replacement clutch and Doug diagnosed mine with worn exhaust cams too. I had heard a ticking sound on idle that I mentioned to him and luckily it was going on a flatbed to him from London, so I guess again very lucky it was caught now rather than going pop.... but just a bit hard on the pocket as an unexpected cost.
Mine has just hit 108k

just read an article on cams on the v6 diesel, seems they have problems too! Is that engine similar to the petrol one? looks more like a bad material or bad oil problem to me.
still hard to beileve a bad material with audi, they aint exactly newbies to building high output unique engines
