Probably, but on Bray Hill I came 2nd, and only a little behind the R500 on the two others ... so, all is possible!

Thing is, my mate, who is a little less than 100kg is a big weight in the car, I can feel it, so, that less again, I am sure to feel the benifits ....

Good points, I'd say a first step has got to be wheels.

My BBS wheels are lighter than the Reps and I understand also OEM RS4 wheels. This will aid acceleration, handling and also total weight.

Means you can also run some track tyres, if they are allowed.

This thread reminds me of what you once told me about your RS4 at a trackday we all did at Donington, years ago

Harsh, but the Audi's are not track cars, are they ? *

Hey David :)

Harsh indeed! Looking back now, I have nothing but fond memories of my RS on track and how time and time again it saved me from a lack of talent while on track in all weathers.

Caterhams are supposed to be good on track - and yet apart from a ridiculously fast R500 at Croft one time, I never had one come past me. Remember the time we all got called in at Donington by the marshalls when seven RS's stormed past one in a continuous stream through the Spitfire area? Poor bloke. He should have stayed at home.

I look forward to your call later Dave :)
i remember that day well, hi everyone hope all is well im purchasing another audi soon so will be back on the scene cheers steve

Funny you should mention that article in CCC pomy. It's what got me thinking about my new project.

She didn't do too bad at all that day (I wasn't there, AMD took charge of her), water injection had no water, NOS was disco for the day etc etc and most of the girlie test pilots couldn't change gear properly. One guy absolutely loved her, but he had big arms

Just goes to show what can be done I suppose, but she was never what she could have been with all that money spent. With hindsight I would.............hang on a minute, let's just do it

Andiroo, noggy babe was the reason i wanted an rs4 in the first place, i even phoned you once when you had it advertised at around 60k in the back of CCC!

Can't wait to see what you and MRC come up with for your next project!
I want to take my car down a similar route, not interested in comfort and all that other nonsense, i have something else for that.

'<beep> your pants rapid' saloons are something i've always been into, though i also love light weight turbo'd porkers just as much!

I think that once you've experienced some serious force induced tuned motors, it's difficult to get a satisfying speed fix from anywhere else!

Cheers!

Hi Andiroo,

I've heard a lot about Noggy Babe and this C&CC article. Is there any chance of getting it scanned (assuming you still have a copy) and uploading it on here so we can take a look?

Cheers Rob :D Think there was around 10 pages in all, still trying to find it.

The drivers of the day couldn't get used to the gearshift being stiff (probably too stiff IMHO) and also the paddle clutch didn't help them doing launches on the 0-60 runs :bash: so the 5.17 is as they tested it, without the NOS and without the water injection. Funny thing was, AMD told me there was a dry joint affecting the water injection - turned out it was a dry washer bottle  I also had the proviso that 'he that bends it mends it', so maybe they weeren't gunning as hard as they could of.

Think there was only the Gerb that liked the gearshift and he was calling the rest of them a bunch of girlies.

The max power on the dyno runs always came in at around 6k rpm, and trailed off after that (but not much). The main point was the torque came in quite quick (running 1.8Bar boost (fully adjustable) with 16degrees of timing advance = 550bhp, 740nM of torque @4200rpm on Optimax + Millers. She had additional engine maps for 2.1Bar boost and 106 Octane fuel = 600+bhp) so there was never any real need to rev the nuts off her.

Cheers,
Andiroo
