Or maybe thats just Clive adding his input from an outside opinion. Also, it seems that you are having 'digs' on other peoples financial situations even when you don't know the individuals situation, when actually it seems that you are scared are your car been worth less than you hoped. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing car etc, but everyone has the right to their opinion on the value and rather than coming across very negatively towards others opinions maybe you should respect them for what their worth.

Just my 2p.

There seems to be a belief on this forum that you can't buy a good RS4 for £20k or less, which I suspect is because members don't like the thought that their cars are not worth as much as they would like.

This is the comment you made Crusty which is what i was refering to, not a fair comment.

Well, it's worth a lot more than the abuse you have been giving to other members in this thread.

I think your right Harry, the pomposity has rubbed of on someone!

Although I agree with the point you make about a very good example being worth 30k, that statement is just naive, I'm afraid.... :

You are absolutely right Bob, which was one of the points I was making in my first "<beep>" post in this thread, RS4's may generally be owned by enthusiasts, but like any other cars, there are still good, bad and plain ugly ones about - I had a look at at six or seven before buying mine, and there was a huge difference in the standard of cars available at the time, and all around the same price point.

That's not to say I don't think you can pick up a bargain, there are a number of high milers out there which have been meticulously maintained, and represent great value for money.

Have you seen it? It may well be a really good one but i remember setting off to see what read like an absolute gem,low miles 2 owners owner had owned several other rs cars only to find it had had a full paint job and was full of filler, this was an experience i got used to.This was a year and a half ago when under 30k was rare, things must be even harder now.I suppose everyones idea of good can vary.I like many started with the cheap ones but ended further up the price range before finding what i was happy with.High miles does knock any car like this i would say at least a grand for every 10k

An interesting thread when you actually read it from start to finish, and concentrate on the useful content....

Some of you may know that I've been toying with getting a CSL. Recent changes have meant that financially I would now need to part with my RS4 and stump up the difference.... So here goes:

2001 Avus RS4 Piano Varnish
98000 miles
Full Audi Service History
1 Owner (Me)
New engine and turbos under waranty @ 55k miles
GmbH bucket seats and originals
DVD, TV, CD, Sat Nav, Dolby 5.1
Improvements in the right places
Spare set of rims with Dunlop Track rubber
RS4 Number Plate

Realistically it has three values:

- Trade in sub £20k
- Put back to standard ~ £20k mark, and sell bits ~ £4000
- Bought and respected as is ~ £20k to £25k

So the bottom line is really that it's not worth me parting with it at these values, I'm gonna have to keep it forever :) :) :)
