Hi Chubby.

Im not far from Newark.

I believe you need to be able to see at least 7500 - 7800rpm in 6th to get to the magic double ton.

After Donington on Sunday, further to yours and Bushys comments, I can confirm that switching to Castrol 4.1 SRF did help with standard brakes, but serious fade still occurs.

Cheers

The fade is down to the brake pad material and nowhere for the heat to, whereas the pedal feel and how well it recoevers is helped by the fluid, IMHO.

I had the Movit fronts, 4 pot and GMBH rears with standard pads and experienced no brake fade at Castle Coombe and Donnington whilst giving it large, only on the cool down lap coming into the pits did the heat transfer to the fluid give me a hairy moment coming into the pits the first time

Now I have changed the fluid then no problems

To be honest I am still not 100% on my current brake set up and have been talking to Kim Collins to get 6 pot Movit fronts and the Movit rears, this could be reality in the next few weeks, especially before Hockenhiem

Cheers

NOZ? What does that do to the RS4? Is it sustainable or just forget it?!

My understanding is that it gives 80bhp boost as the revs rise, sounds good but not sure if it can run permanaently

Andiroo, your comments please

Currently the 75bhp NOZ is disconnected coz we are running fuelling and mapping for 2.25Bar boost and an obscene amount of advanced timing. Once this is sorted with another fuel pump then I will be confident to add the NOZ, probably ip to 300bhp digitally controlled in progressive stages throughout the revrange (only on WOT and over 1.2Bar boost).

The thing with NOZ on a RS4 is that it is superb when you're running 380 to 460bhp, as you're asking the injectors to work to only 85-90% of capacity which means you will never have an occurence of a NOZ wet system running lean on fuel. This way you bolt on 75/150 or 300bhp and if your drivetrain can take it then great.

Unfortunately I am running injectors to 100% very quickly indeed, and match this with the current fuel pump and uprated fuel pressure regulator it is still not enough

What this means on Noggy Babe is that you could have the situation whereby the injectors are run at 100% for too long, the ECU backs of the mixture, but the NOZ is still running at 100% flow. This would mean disaster

My other problem is that running the correct fuelling, timing advance and 2.25Bar boost, she will be good for well over 600bhp - why would I want to add NOZ? Unless I get a sequential box installed with lightweight block, billet crank and strengthened rods..............then she'd be good for the magic figure

Without NOZ I would be happy with 750bhp/850nM although we would need to be able to rev over 8k rpm for this, hence the crank, rods and block and I am aware the current Motronic would be no good for this, so Autronic seems the favourite eliminating the need for MAF and lamda sensors.

With NOZ there would be no problem getting well over 1000bhp, but it's only a setup used for qtr miles, and whether I do these depends on the gearbox solution and whether the rest of the drivetrain can take those sort of launches May well have to look at carbon-fibre driveshafts .....hmmmmmmm, 10sec RS4 , althought to be truthful this aint my bag baby

Only thinking out loud for the moment May still sell up and get 993RS or an Ultima, although somehow I just don't think I could bring myself to part with her

Anyway back on-topic.
This type of air-venting has been done on a Imola S3 in Australia awhile back, he was running Porsche front braks, it did improve it.
Maybe the RS4 has more heat coming from the intercoolers?

Thats the trouble, end up loving them too much, this is the only car I have had that I have not got bored with and have had no thoughts, fed up with it must sell

I like you current plan and I would imagine like me you like the track too much to waste time with the 1/4 mile option

Good luck with whatever you do and dont forget to take me for a lap or too soon mate, seems like I am about number 87 on the rota at the mo though
