A massive BIG UP to m888rsy for popping out to check out the RS4 this afternoon. A very nice 6 you have there mate, would have loved a trip in it. Maybe another time...

Ok so on first impressions it seems to be a nice tidy clean car. All genuine.

Bodywork
Bodywork looked in good condition for the age. Not concourse condition but not bad at all. Some TLC with various expensive waxes will bring it up nicely I'm sure. No paint bubbling, a few minor stone chips, 1 at least had gone through the paint with rust showingn which will need attention, on the bonnet.
The wheels I think were OEM 9-spokes, with 1 small bit of kerbing, £50 all sorted.
All tyres had a good amount of tread and even wear.
Had a full size OEM spare wheel too.
Does have another aerial fitted for some reason.
All panels sat well with adjacent ones. No evidence in the engine bay of swapped over wings.
Factory tints too.

Internally
Drivers side bolsters and seat showing signs of creasing, but not badly. Again some TLC and they'll look much better. Half leather.
BOSE 6 Cd system all fine. All controls seemed in good working order.
No abrasions to the steering wheel or door pulls.

Engine
A slight tappety noise on start up, but quieted after warm up, still noticeable but only just.
A nice 'zing' to it when revved (standard exhaust).
Not sure if it had been mapped or not. Any way of telling?
The diagnostic box of tricks showed up just the one fault - '17862 P1454 ezxhaust gas temperature sensor 1-G235: low' (thanks Mike). Comments?

Car definitely seems sound, but may well get Grizz to check it out. Hasn't been driven much - MoT tickets show something like 8k miles in the last 3yrs!

Anything else I should have checked?
M888RSY seemed to think it was a good 'un for the money.

is there 1 sensor per bank of cylinders i.e. 2 sensors in total? Should both be changed or no?

GOT IT !!

Just got back from the 300mile drive home. Bloody lovely.

Service indicator came on though :( To be expected I suppose at the price. But it does drive nicely, especially after driving a Defender for the last few months!

Still about 50miles left in the tank too - brilliant...

Gonna give it a good clean tomorrow and will post some pics then...

WOOHOO...

good stuff - a car wash at home is usually the best way to see all the details
