Well, if its any consolation, both my S4 and that of a friend had dead batteries shortly after 30000miles A replacement on both cars has worked fine (and mine can sit for a fortnight sometimes between uses) - maybe the audi standard fit is just a bit of a duffer.

I have the same problem on mine, keeps dying after one-two weeks of parking.
I'm about to swap the batteries between the RS4 and the Passat to see if it continues (provided they can be swaped).
In any case, I do have several addition components like the GPS Immobilizer (as all S and RS cars now sold by Audi France have it standard).
Btw, my car was made in July 2001 so that's about 2.5 years of battery life.
Eric

As an update on the issue, I swaped the batteries between the Passat and the RS4 2 weeks ago. The RS4 keeps dying so it's not a battery issue.

Took it for a quick check at a local Car Audio store : they placed a light between the terminals which went "bling-bling" asap. So something is eating the power deffo on power off.

All fuses have been taken out one by one, the light didn't stop.

So now goes the real hunt ... not going to be fun and quick ...

Mine was just in service (40k miles), they diagnosed a weak battery (without a hint from me) and are changing it. 2.5 years old now.

stay tuned

Ok it seems I nailed the culprit for my battery's dying in 5 days : the GPS Tracker system.

It turned out that the module installed was using 70ma permanent with 200ma ping every 30 sec (to let the GSM component look for the network).
A new/patched version was installed which does 21ma permanent and no ping for network anymore.

Btw, every time my battery died or was disconnected, it triggered an alert from the GPS Tracker with the latest coordinates to the security company -which didn't follow up as I didn't call for it- ...
So I found out that the GPS tracker has its own separate battery to counter main battery unplug.
I also found out that retrieving/destroying the GPS module immobilizes the car.
I also found out that the S4 V8 is now the most stolen car in France (from the GPS tracking company).

Pah. Now my RS6 has done it! It had been left, locked, in the garage for 5 weeks and started with no problems for an 80 mile round trip. Then left another three days - again no problems for a 30 mile round trip. That was Wednesday evening. Come Friday afternoon, go to start it - nothing! Not even a click from the starter solenoid. Jump started it and drove 160 miles with no problems. No problems again on Saturday afternoon for the return home. I may not use it again until next Saturday - I'll see how it is then.

There were definitely no lights or any other accessory left turned on on Wednesday evening, but something drained the battery in less than 48 hours, just after a five week rest had caused no problem.

Have had the same problem with my RS4, but it sits sometimes for months without being started or driven Not much point in having it then
Have fitted connector from Carcoon to battery, and while fragile Italian toy sits in bubble, it keeps my RS4 charged up with a very gentle trickle

PS. If you are using jump leads, buy a spike protector, ECU's and other electrical bits don't like a shock

PS. If you are using jump leads, buy a spike protector, ECU's and other electrical bits don't like a shock

This can also be avoided by making sure you have lots of electrical things turned on, pre connection. Follow the instructions supplied with the jump leads, i.e. Connect the earth to somewhere on the car, not the battery.
