Same with most insurance companies... If they won't let Audi do it, then option 3 seems like the simplest way

Thorney - You get what you pay for, the following companies are all direct line offspring and you don't get the following:

Courtesey car
Personal Accident/Life cover
Lock replacement
crap window cover

UK Insurance - Privelidge - Tesco

If possible avoid at all costs, it's like buying a ferrari and taking to halfords for servicing! And our lass works in their claims office in leads, she doesn't know her arse from her elbow!!! (don't tell her)

Minor result I spose. Caused a ruck at Tesco who told Autoglass I was a 'problem customer' who rang and said they'll only use Audi glass and take special care - LOL.

I had a crack in the windscreen of my RS6 within days of owning it.. bloody stone chip at 120mph!!

Apparantly, and I have this on good authority, is that Audi Uk use Autoglass to supply replacement glass.. it's Audi's own glass (make sure you ask for it if you're doing it on insurance) but their staff are much better fitters than audi staff so go for it.

Autoglass did a superb job on my RS6 and I wouldn't hesiate to use them again. Make sure that you give them a ring first with your make and model of car.. make sure they order the right tint.. and bob's your uncle.

Dave

I agree - I've had two windscreens (in a month !) both fitted by them and everything is fine.

I had my windscreen replaced last summer by Auto glass in Aberdeen. Not entirely happy with their work but not bad.

I called my local Audi dealership who said they use AG. so there was no benefit in taking the car to them.

I wanted the same quality glass as original i.e. tint and sun visor etc.

I spoke to the lads before they started the job expressing my concern from previous bad workmanship to establish what guarantee was on their work.

My previous knowledge was of a friend’s car who had obviously had the windscreen replaced at some stage and was now rusting from under the glued screen. It got so bad over the years that the screen had to be removed and the corroded section of the roof had to cut out!

I told AG this story and they assured me they have a extensive warranty. Once the job was complete I thoroughly inspected the car. I noted a number of defects in the glass. The black tint around the edges of the glass had small clear bubbles. The black dots round the perimeter of the screen were finished in a squint line. They had also deformed the lower plastic trim and upper outer sealing trim.

All of the above was quite minor but I noted on the back of their invoice they clearly release themselves from any responsibility/claims for trims that don't fit post fitment!

I was well pissed off that you only get this disclaimer once you have had the job carried out.

Yet another experience of second rate service.

Don't get me wrong the job is ok. But it's far from original with a number of minor flaws - it's just bloody annoying that yet again your promised the earth and people just don't seem to blood care.

Victor Meldrew

PS I'm going to adopted the policy of taking the fitter/foreman round my car whenever I get things done now as you would be naive to trust anyone. - It's all a bit sad really.

i got mine replaced by the 3 party fitter Aberdeen Audi use premier fitters i know this doesn't help you in your location but i ordered the glass and asked the desk jockeys who replaced the windows if was in house the told me the get these guys to fit all there windscreens
so might be worth while asking them who fits and broken wind screens as i herd too many horror story's about Auto glass wrong screens and damage i think it was about £350 glass and fitted
