2001 RS4 B5 Electric Windows

Post by onyamarks » Sat Mar 01, 2025 2:35 pm

Hello fellow RS owners, enthusiasts. I have just managed to succesfully replace one of the rear window regulators on my 2001 RS4 B5. Chuffed with my success, and with the process fresh in my mind, I decided to remove the door panel on the right hand front door because the window has not fully closed for quite some time now and opens itself slightly when it will not automatically close fully. Once I had the door panel off I went to open and close the window to check the movement and alignment of the window and discovered that neither of the front windows were working. After a lot of research online I found that the window fuses were not with the others and most likely they would be under the steering column. I removed the panel and found the relays panel and another panel further behind that, by process of elimination, I located the rear window fuse (white circle on the attached image). I guess that the same fuse (green circle on the attached image) is for the front windows but I cannot seem to remove it as there is a bundle of cable blocking its exit (pink circle on the attached image). My questions are
Does anyone have any hints/tips on how to remove and test/replace this fuse without stripping all that is in its way?
Does anyone have any ideas, in case the issue is not the fuse?
Does anyone have any ideas as to why the window is not closing fully?
Thank you all so very much, in advance, for any assistance you may be able to offer.
