RS2 > S5 > NOW GETTING AN B5 RS4 - Advice please
Hi All,
been a while since I've been here. I had (N1 AGM) RHD RS2 a few years ago on 44k.
Have S5 at the mo but another littlen on the way and fancy something a bit quirkier, rarer etc and have decided on a B5 RS4.
Want a noggy but not sure whether spending 16/17k on a 70/80k mile car or something like this.... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2152204.htm
I've ben reading up on them and possible if only few weaknesses. If I buy standard I plan to go the full exhaust/downpipe route and remap of course. perhaps intercoolers as my experience with turbo'ed cars are the colder the better.....
Any advice please would be appreciated. Hopefully soon I will be joining your elite group

Hi Dan,
I think spending 16/17K on a 70/80K mile car is by far the best option
In all seriousness, I love low mileage/low owner cars but driving it would then always worry me. Also, if I was going to buy a low mileage example I would want to keep it standard as in the long term that will harm its future value less.
But in this current climate it is all down to money, and your budget - it is a buyers market at the moment.
Who can tell how many miles your car has covered when it is driving past them?
Cheers,
Tom

Thanks Tom,
My issue is I have my car to part ex. Until now I have been thinking a cheaper car and modding it sensibly myself. I want to make sure I get a good one. I know they aren't prone to many issues but sometimes these forums can scare you off a bit. I also want as immaculate as I can get even if it means treating to some tender loving care.
As you know my low milaege RS2 started to play with my mind everytime i drove it any distance. I also know that I might only have an RS4 for a year or two or 5? Who knows.....
Your blue noggy is tempting me but a deal could be tricky? If you have any thoughts. I was looking to take advantage of MRC's Stage 3 package they area offering at the mo if I get a standard one.
Thanks for advice again mate

Question rs4killa,
Why back to a b5 from b7? I have tweaked s5 and love it but has never really felt individual enough. I did toy with getting a b7 but thought b5 would be more fun and a bit more 'special' ?

Well, I'm now officially a part of the club. I took a LONG trip to see Nick Johnson yesterday and it's - so long S5 - hello Noggy RS4
I literally spent the day with Nick and MattyB - They were an education. Had plenty of time for me and the enthusiasm (mild addiction in Matt' case) was great. Thanks Matt. Nick has some lovely examples. Too much choice - The Imola Yellow, Musano Red looked amazing. My heart was set on the Noggy though. Picking up next Tuesday.
It's funny with these cars as being an ex rare RS2 owner the difference between the S5 and RS4 was a strange one. The RS4 feels more dated by some way - Audi have certainly pulled their finger out with build quality over recent years - as my S5 is so solid - but boy does the RS4 feel special and make the heart feel warmer
Thanks again to Nick and Matt. Your time, advice and cuppa's were greatly appreciated.

Re: RS2 > S5 > NOW GETTING AN B5 RS4 - Advice please
Hey! I know the original owner of the Audi RS2 with the N1 AGM tag. I have the original pictures from when he purchased it. I know this is a long shot, but is there any way of tracking this car down? The owner was a dear friend of mine and has since passed away. He left me a 2003 S6 avant and I would love to find the RS2 to park beside it. I will include pictures with this post. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
Re: RS2 > S5 > NOW GETTING AN B5 RS4 - Advice please
I'm sorry to hear your friend has died. I remember this car from the late noughties. It turned up at Parva cars where I took a look at it because I was visiting friends nearby. I did take it for a test drive. I clocked where the car was from after seeing the V5 and spoke to the Mr Farmer about his car.
Dan I believe bought the car from Parva
then Paul Garlick (Pistonheads) had it for a time https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/top ... 32335&i=40
I haven't seen it up for sale in the last 10yrs.
Your best bet is the S2forum or try Jeremy
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/pro ... emberId=58 as he once upon a time ran the RS2 registry
I do miss mine

Thank you so much! I will try him. The man that owned the car originally was Mark Nathanson.
