Oil and Water Temp

Hello guys, I just made my first weekend trip with my RS4. What a car!! Although it is still a virgin (stock) under a hill climb highway I was driving pretty hard, with revs from 5 to 7k rpm, mostly WOT, and I noticed the oil temp rising to 120 degrees and after that the water moving to 100 degrees. Imediately I reduced the revs and put the 6th gear, leaving the engine to cool and after 5 minutes the temps declined. Is it a normal situation with RS4??

120 oil temp and 100 water is ok if you give the car performance, but you may still check water-cooler and intercoolers for soiling фтв dirt, just take of the front bumper and clean with high pressure with water (I do it with karcher washer) the water-cooler (2 parts, its better to disassemble it) the oil cooler (the one that’s underneath the water cooler) and the intercoolers.
Then you will have more fun with the car :D

Mine doesnt run anthing like those temperatures,120 oil temp are you sure?

Just to remember, I was driving hard, "track" like... I talk to my mechanic and he told me that's common given 20 minutes track like driving... I'm desapointed in this issue as my car is stock. Anyway, very fun to drive...

Just keep your coolers clean (3 radiators in front, beyond the bumper,2 water and 1 oil) and the car will not heat like that, don’t be disappointed I have this problem every time the coolers get dirty.

I'll check to see if the coolers are clean, but I guess they are as the car was checked last week. Anyway this was a common thing with my tuned S4, everytime I drived agressively the temp rised. I thought that this would be over with the RS, I guess it is not, that's way I'm disappointed regarding this specific issue. A friend of mine changed his headers and told me this would help reduce the engine temp a lot, but I intend to keep the RS virgin.
But sure thing, appart from that, the RS is really nice and fun on the road!

The RS has an aux oil cooler that kicks in at high temps, so it must be designed to reach them. I've not seen my water guage move before though for more than a couple of mins.

The aux oil cooler kicks in at 120C -so you will get to that with spirited driving. Getting above 120C would be abnormal, and a bit worrying.

Use proper race oil if you want to be happy with 100 + running temps.
Millers 10w 60 is good and absolutely made for constant 125c and up to 150c
If you want better cooling get the FMIC it comes with a better oil cooling system too. Water injection may also help.
I want this but will have to wait a while . The usual story.
Carbon fibre bonnet with cooling vents would be nice too.
You have to accept this car will get very hot as Turbo cars do. Especially heavy weight ones with no room under the bonnet. the steps above can be applied to most cars S4 ,s included

Those temps are typical on a track. It cools down quickly on the cooling down lap.
