Latest Warranty Woes?

Post by derdle » Fri Jun 17, 2005 7:45 am

Hi all,

I've received two letters from Audi Customer Service about the Warranty situation.

Included is the following text:
..Audi's own branded Guarantee renewal product is not yet available for sale. However, you will soon be written to by Mondial UK regarding a product that will help protect you from unwanted repair or recovery costs"

Please accept our continued apologies blah blah blah.

So something is happening...at last.

RE: Latest Warranty Woes?

Only problem is that it is Mondial............ probably the worst company in the world to try and get to do anything, they covered my last Range Rover after the first year expired which was covered directly by Land Rover. No matter what problem I had, and regardless of whether the issue had been tackled previously, (had numerous drive shaft replacements) it took months to get an OK, and every single item had to be inspected by their own engineers. I met two engineers on site who knew very little about the product they were covering, and that is being generous...... :<beep>_you: :piss:

The previous Audi branded product was managed/issued/underwritten by Mondial. I've never had any problems over warranty claims with Audi and mondial - they have always been handled quickly and efficiently. Perhaps this is a dealer issue? I know the contact at my dealership works hard in sorting warranty issues.

The day before I got my letter, I received a phone call from my local dealer - he said they wanted £1137 ! Don't know about any inspection requirements yet.

Just spoken to Aston Green Audi. they called Audi UK who said that what they are now doing is dealing direct with Mondial. Spoke to a woman at modial who has emailed me the warrantee details in PDF form. It's £1138 for year 5 as long as the car is under 5 years old and has less than 100k miles on the clock. If you want I can let Phil or someone have the PDFs to put in the downloads. I'm gonna call them and ask if it matters if the warrantee lapses before renewal so I'll let you know.

Ok, apparently you have 14 days once your warranty has expired to take up the Mondial policy (I would assume this is excluding those who's policies expired a while back when they couldn't sell them at all).

If anyone wants to contact mondial, Jade who I spoke to seems to be very helpful and I can give you her email address if you'd like but I won't post it publicly - we don't want the poor girl to feel harrassed!!

when I've had dealings with the Audi approved warranty company (Mondial) they were seriously understaffed and didn't appear to be educated on the RS4/S4 cars. I agree with JR - to me this is another example where Audi's aftersales care is being neglected and hopefully someone within Audi is willing to change this approach.
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

Never had any problems with warrenty claims the entire time i had my RS4.
What i do have a problem with is the amount a years cover costs for the RS4.......£1138?

The M3 lads had fits when their cover increased to £710ish from around £480.
A years warrenty from Porsche costs £750 for the 911 carrera range.....not sure about the exotic machines like the GT2 and GT3 but i would doubt its higher than the RS4,s figure?
I take it there is no other options worth looking into?
Cheers fc

One year cover for year 4 on 996 turbo was £500 plus vat. and has already paid for itself a few times over, last years 4th yr cover on the RS was 760ish if I remember correctly, so where in God's name do they get that figure from, and what does it cover in addition to last year for that much of a hike?

I was on the phone to Warranty Direct last week, they will sell me a policy for the RS for £740. Its a pretty decent poilcy (see their website for full details) but it doesn't cover the exhaust manifolds or the CATs & SAT Nav. However, additional cover for the CATs and Sat Nav can be purchased separately for approx £50 each. If you haggle with them they will take £10 off each item and £20 of the main policy.

I was told yesterday by my local dealership that Audi's warranty is up and running but they had no details as to what the 5th year covered as its a named parts type policy as opposed to the 4th year which is the same as 1-3years. Last year before all this nonsence I was quoted £1050 (I think) if I renewed before my 4th ran out. That would increase to £1100+ once the covered expired.

It would be good to know if the manifolds are covered?

How about a group letter/email asking them to justify the cost and their apparant loss of interest in looking after their core fan base?

'Just because our cars are 4-5 yrs old, does that mean we are now dispensable clients?' etc etc blah blah.
