Wey Hey congratulations TOM :jump_clap:

Re the specialist in question is a local garage in Aberdeen. I doubt you'll ever use them unless you find yourself up here and they are not the obvious suspects.

I've no idea what the cylinder order is. I've never had any cause to get under those engine covers - yet!!

Well she is home, Rubbish drive home as I had to drive the Old man's Golf 1.4 while the wife drove the beast. She said it seemed different and she is not wrong. It is very very fast - however, might just be the fact I was driving the golf for so long.

Anyway - here are the details for those who are interested.

Total bill will 748.50 + VAT, it included

Cam Belt
Major service
Cam cover gasket
MOT
AC belt
V-Belt tensioner
Pollen filters
Labour

Specialist in question even cleaned the car. I am very happy indeed.

Now moving onto the merits of FASH. The cam cover had been semi-repaired before. Someone had dogged some silcon along the back edge. To say it leaked would be a small understatement. The hard to remove spark plug had been in for ages, and as mentioned was bringing up error codes. It was shagged - since replaced there have been none. :audibash:

Now I know most of you have low mileage examples and I agree a FSH is important, but for me I would almost prefer to see specialists stamps rather than main dealers - differnet for 'joe public' I know.... Anyhow not so important when the car is no-standard and the mileage reads 159333K...

Long may she continue to provide grins by the shitload and still manage to transport family and drums to a gig..

:kissmyrings:

Oh yes and the garage in question were Dialynx, 1st used because they are just down the road and they have done nothing, but impress - so far. Also a good point to note is that Keith is a bloody nice bloke - we all know that some specialist proprietors are really quite moody buggers.

Keith can have moments too :bash: As the only real quattro specialists, and a mine of information on the tuning of them, our paths have crossed a few times

if that much of a bstd to get out may also be difficult to mark not to mention removing covers and coilpacks.vw didn't seem to care when i pointed out they had missed the air filter on a vr6 full service plus some other faults, instead they gave me a stupid figure to repair them.is a service that difficult a job.the service manager offered to give me a discount on labour to fix the oil cooler leak,he said the seals were not available and a new cooler was around £250 not wanting them to work on the car again i walked into the parts department and baught the seal for 80p.it was in stock.

Just got off my arse to check where Dialynx are located and I can see that from my house they are the same distance as the crow flies as AmD. However since most of the journey would be M4, suddenly Dialynx are looking attractive.

Can anyone else offer their experiences of Dialynx service (for servicing)?

I assume that they have a RR?

Dippy, Not as yet I am afraid.

They are looking to expand shortly - I certainly think it would be a good investment for them.

Anyone who frequents hillclimbs and comes from and VW background will know of them (always at inters). Keith has a silver SWB quattro that is simply blisteringly and his Bulle-tt pushed out over 600bhp on the rollers.

One of the things I like is the fact Keith is still keen to try new things, he gets excited when you suggest something new or different. Yet he still will supply and fit all the stuff the other guys do too.

However I am sure there are mixed tales, as with every tuner.

I need to go and pay them a visit, given that they're now my local VAG specialist. I know ALL about that silver SWB - I was in the other lane when he set the fastest time at Inters a few years back, DOH! JohnW might still have the video of that - SWB screams past, followed several seconds later by a Green Corrado seemingly out for a Sunday stroll!  :notworthy:

Never one to push the virtues of a main dealer service - But I needed my rims swapping because they were bent so took the RS in to the local dealer.

Got the service paperwork breakdown back and costings (was due a service at 44k anyway)

Item 4 was "replaced 1 spark plug" I asked what this was about and the RS engineer who drove the car around for my collection told me he'd replaced no.6 because it was jammed. I'm out of warranty, but no charge.

So I don't suppose they're set up for 4WD alignment either?
