Turbo Oil Leak

Post by BW » Mon Dec 13, 2004 11:52 am

I have been informed by my mechanic he has found my LH(pass.)side intercooler oil being leak from the turbo as well under the chasis. I guess driver side turbo is fine.

I wonder I can smell some oil burning first five minutes after getting my car on road, but nothing smell again after then since 6 months ago. No lights on, no oil level down also. But audi dealer has check it said nothing but this sure want my replacment made a appointment next week.

I have two years warranty extended, so I wonder they will replace one turbo or both, anyone give me a idea.

Cheers

Turbos should always be replaced in pairs.

Phil is correct - don't worry about the warranty will come good. Just enjoy the beast. I know mine were replaced.

It is stated by Cust service Turbos come in pairs.
Do not worry . I have just been there and 2 new turbos are a treat.

Refer your mechanic to customer services for him to get the same info if necessary

It is stated in some original manual for the S4

Audi will know, I'm sorry I don't have the info my self.
If you ring cust service and speak to a tech advisor they will confirm .
Get an oil change aswel if you can.

(clean oil and potential oil contamination while fitting new turbos)

Cats are a little more difficult but have a go.

sorry, look at page 23 of the S4 Biturbo engine self study guide http://www.rs246.com/modules.php?op=mod ... tit&lid=29

but this is for the S4 and I assume (hopefully right) that this applies to the RS4.

How much oil? You may have some oil in there which is blown though from the PCV system.
It's common to find oil in the nearside diverter valve as well. Are you having to top up oil often?
