Here's an odd thing - a 2004 RS4 (B5)
Got the full story now, just had a call from the sales manager, not the muppet I was dealing with earlier. It doesn't inspire confidence:
1. Car was stolen unregistered from AFN Audi late 2001
2. Car was recovered earlier this year in supposed mint condition.
3. Because it was stolen and recovered without any damage, it has been registered from August.
4. Audi have to inspect the car before they will offer a 3 year warranty on it.
HHmmmmmmm, I wouldn't want it after doing so many miles without history!

God knows what's happened to it in the past 2 years... Personally if I were to think about that car, I'd want every component checked to make sure it was genuine and in good shape, and I can't see them doing that.
Then again, maybe that's why the car's so expensive - hundreds of labour hours taking it apart and rebuilding it!!!

2001 Avus Silver RS4, APRacing 6pots - Gone, but not forgotten

If the insurance company paid out then technically it will be a category D write off. Being cat D, you usually reduce value by 30%. But, I'm sure they won't be allowed to sell any car with a cat C or D marker on the used network so as far as they're concerned it's clean.
I fully agree, this car is not worth this kind of money, only novelty being it's on an 04 plate. I can see it becoming one of those cars that people ask about on the forums for years to come.
Fair play to the dealer for being honest though.
Cheers
Ben

Hello everybody, I am a Sales Executive at Dulwich Audi. I would like to set the record straight for everyone who is wondering about the car.
It was stolen from the AFN group pre registration, and was not recovered for two years. After recovery it was then stored by the AFN group for approx one year to the best of our knowledge.
We recently purchased the car from the AFN group, since we have had it it has been serviced and MPC'd. It now has the full 3 year manufacturers warranty from the date of registration which is 18.08.04. It also has the full road side assistance.
The car is an extremely good example and must be seen before it is criticised, we feel that the price is very good given the current status of the car and the fact that Warranty is present and that it will be the only ever 2004 registered RS4.
You all know what great cars they are and this one is no different.

Thank you for taking the time to register and post the replies Chris. I for one appreciate that.
As RS4ever asks, did the car do it's 20k miles before being recovered or after ?
If before then we will never know who did them, or indeed if 20k is a genuine figure.
If after, then I guess the car is as solid as any used Audi can be.
