you can only exchange the whole clock to a mph which i did cost about £360 IIRC from audi plus fitting and tuning into the car ect

Be aware that if you do this, you will lose the radio clock setting facility. AFAIAA, no Audi instrument panels, calibrated in miles, are fitted with the radio clock interface components. This bugs me, and I'm still looking for a solution - perhaps take parts from a UK and a Euro-spec panel and combine them. Then I could buy the receiver and plug it in.

Grrr. Audi must save all of one Euro by omitting the components from the UK panels.

K2, do you need a MPH speedo to pass the MOT, if not, I wouldn't bother changing it - buy a short-shifter with the money and use the air-con panel to display MPH?

i have the mph clock in a lhd,the radio function seems fine,it can be switched from uk to km on the trip computer by audi.but the air con display always shows kph.the only difference in the clocks is the dial as the rest is set by audi on the computer.it can be set to any country the only problem being if the clock is set to uk you get mpg, mileage in miles ect, but when the drivers door is opened the computer shows it on the central display as a rhd, which means the n/s door is open(drivers lhd) and the the display shows it as the o/s as it thinks this is the drivers door.this has been the only problem but i would rather suffer that than have to work out litres per 100km.

So, are you saying that the time of day and date is set automatically by the radio clock function (you have a little mast displayed just to the left of the time of day), and it switches automatically between BST and GMT? Perhaps the RS4 instruments are different, but the RS6 unit doesn't even have the connector fitted for attaching the radio clock module.
it can be switched from uk to km on the trip computer by audi.but the air con display always shows kph.the only difference in the clocks is the dial as the rest is set by audi on the computer.it can be set to any country the only problem being if the clock is set to uk you get mpg, mileage in miles ect, but when the drivers door is opened the computer shows it on the central display as a rhd, which means the n/s door is open(drivers lhd) and the the display shows it as the o/s as it thinks this is the drivers door.this has been the only problem but i would rather suffer that than have to work out litres per 100km.
There is a facility to set whether the car is lhd or rhd, but it may only determine which door is unlocked on the first press of the remote (when priority unlocking is configured). However, I would be very surprised if there isn't some way of reconfiguring the door-open mimic. Also, I would expect that there is some way to set the aircon to imperial units - might be worth using VAG-COM to compare settings between your car and a UK car.

the tecnitian at my audi dealership seems to know his stuff,as i said you can set the car to lhd but all the on bourd computer comes up as kph, which i dont want.if set to rhd the speedo ect is all mph but the door open diagram shows the wrong door is open.if you switch the inputs on the clocks for the doors it sends the alarm up the wall and the interior lights flash when the passenger door is opened.it seems the only way around it is to buy door locks for a rhd as they have different switches in them.
as for the clock/radio setting i will let you know.

Aircon unit only displays KPH.

Yes you can pass the MOT with a KM/h display on the clocks.

The only things you have to do are the headlights (The statement says 'Permanently adujusted for UK Driving') and the Fog Light on the rear (It has to be on the OSR side of the car or in the middle.

I have been driving my LHD Cabrio in the UK for 4yrs now and it's always passed it's MOT even with LHD KM/H only clocks. :)
