specification query

Post by touring » Mon Aug 27, 2012 10:13 pm

Hi there,
I'm considering buying an RS4 B5 and having viewed a very tody example today, I was wondering whether any of the RS4 experts on this forum could clarify a couple of points regarding standard factory specification.

Firstly, did the RS4 have a full size or space saver spare wheel ? the car I viewed appeared to have neither.

Secondly, I was of the belief that all RS4s had a retractable dog guard built in the rear parcel shelf, however the car I viewed didn't appear to have this feature despite having the appertures in the roof lining for the dog guard lugs to fit in to.

I'd be grateful if anyone could clarify these points

Thanks
Touring

The rs4 did not come with a spare wheel of any kind. I am sure you could spec a full size wheel from the factory.

Regarding the dog/luggage guard, that should be present. No big deal if it is not as they are not specific to the rs4 so can be picked up for not to much money.

Small point, but it's not a "dog guard" but a "luggage net" allowing you to fill the boot to the roof and not have luggage hit you in the back of the head... it also works as a dog guard though

Hi Touring
As mentioned the RS4 didn't come with a spare wheel. The standard wheel is too big to fit in the wheel well unless you carry out some modifications in the boot. I'm sure there is a "how to" on the forum somewhere. The boot well should have a pump & some tyre form from the factory.
Regarding the dog guard it is well hidden behind the rear headrests under a flap, could you have missed it maybe?

That's already been answered - standard wheel too big.
