What is your boost pressure before the ECU cuts it off ?
Mine goes to 23 then then falls back down suddenly.
Anyone got aftermarket turbos ? Mine whine like an owl hooting when car is cold.
I blew an oil line today, ahaha !! oil all over the place...you should have seen the car behind me...his windshield was covered in oil !!!
I have a custom oil cooler..but one of the hoses was kinked, so it exploded !!
I'm fitting braided hoses tomorrow..they can't kink...i hope i haven't dammaged the engine.
Ouch !!!
boost pressure
Uh oh. zero tolerance on our engines seems not a good idea IMHO,
Golich, if I am correct it means that the gap between the turbine impellor and the intake housing has no gap. THe reason I think this is not good is if the turbo takes any dirt particles it could throw it ever sos lightly out of balance and then force it to touch, could mean earlier failure than a standard model
Good luck

Can't beat a bit of boost!
right on
Bushy ...you are right on mate...the zero clearance lasted about 3 weeks.
I don't know if one had defect from the start, but yesterday we took off the intercooler pipes to check for debris and sure enough little pieces of enamel were found.
The zero clearance turbos are coated with enamel, and i am pretty sure that was the stuff in the intercooler pipes.
Having said all this, i am now going to try RS6 turbos...tuning the car will be a problem after that...
I do love my rs4, but would love to drive the damned thing for more than 3 weeks at a time without something blowing up or exploding...haha !!

changing turbos
come to think about it...most normal people with normal cars can check the turbos out in 30 minutes or so..
I think audi is the only car that has made the turbos impossible to get to without dropping or even pulling the engine out...
Anyone here got a shortcut ? It's starting to piss me off ...that engine has been out 3 times in the last year...and it takes 7 hours to take the bugger out!

I remember reading about a guy who installed some large turbos but modified the pipework so they were at the top of the engine, was it the guy in Poland?
Maybe that is the solution
Also I think that whilst we would all like the perfect solution you need to look to allowing more tolerance or margin for error, why use zero tolerance? Can you not use something not so finite, I mean this is not a $1million jet engine. So use hybrid turbos vut not zero tolerance, this will certainly give you an increase in power, say up to 520-530bhp maybe even 550, where as the zero rated ones will give 550, but if you then get some reliability tha tmust be good news?????
What other engine mods have you done when you changed the turbos?
I know you have the FMIC, what else?
You certainly have an interesting project on the go there
Cheers
