Falling prices ??

Has anyone else noticed a recent price drop in the audi network RS4's?....

One I viewed just before Chrimbo was up at either £33995 or £34995, checked this week and it's down to 31995...others in the network seem to have dropped too...

Any thoughts ? - is it due to the new year, or maybe there's info about the new RS4 due soon...

The ones I've seen (all had been reduced) were pretty low spec cars that were not in the best of condition. The cars that are good still seem to be fetching good money, there being a difference of quite a few thousand pounds between good and bad. If you're paying this sort of money then it's worth spending a bit more to get a good one.

Yeah, maybe...it was the sudden drop that seemed wierd....a 2k drop in a month seems strange..

You decided on one yet Ben ?....weren't you looking at Thorney's?

The RS4 prices drops because already had used's RS6.

In the past, the RS2 price down too at same moment used RS4 become available.

RS4 prices are well into mid 20's in the trade. Even so, they're mostly around the 3 years old mark now and compared to a lot of alternatives which would have cost the same when new that's not actually THAT bad really.

Agree with Gord, especially when you see 18 month old 25K M3's up for retail at the mid 20's, the rs4 is holding up very well.
In answer to the original question, all dealers drop the stand in value (SIV) for stock cars the longer they sit on their forecourts (both new and used), so for accounting purposes a £50,000 car will typically have a written down value of 2%/month ie after 1 month the car will only have a book value of £49,000 and so on.

In addition, most dealers have aggresive stocking loan terms which will really start to hit them when a car has been in stock longer than say 100 days. At this point, the dealer will cut his losses and get rid of the car at almost any price above the SIV.
One way of buying a really cheap car is to find a friendly dealer and just sit at his pc searching through old stock cars in the dealer network. Once you find something with a good spec which is sitting in some back-end of nowhere dealership, you get your friendly salesman to call them up and internally purchase the car at the SIV which he is then able to sell to you at a small premium.

Ahh...Interesting...thanks for that Charles...might just know a dealer willing to do that too!

Only problem is...decent RS4's don't tend to hang around in dealers too long anyway [img]images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

RS4 prices are quite spec specific as well.....satnav plus was a £3500 option, sunroof £900 etc etc

YEs, unfortunately mostly the only used RS's that hang around are of low spec/poor condition, therefore you either pay top dollar for a good one or take a chance on a low spec machine.
The only way to get a really desirable one, is to wait until one comes up and be in aposition to buy IMMEDIATELY. Dealers love nothing more than a no complication simple quick transaction. Walk in with a deposit in cash and you might haggle an OK deal. Otherwise I'm afraid these tricks just can't really be used on the RS4 due to the limited numbers in circulation. TBH, dealer cars are probably not the way to go. Private cars tend to be in better condition and you have a much better insight into how the car has been treated.
Extend the warranty on a private car and there's no difference than buying from a dealer.

Ok whats a RS4 with say delivery milage worth?
With sat nav sun roof in Avus Black leather?
Well i gotta feeling you you have to pay £50000+ for it now.
Saw an RS2 once with 500mls on the clock at Listers in Pearlescent White £49,000 [img]images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img]
And guess what they sold it.
So the prices at the moment reflect the cars that are out there. Quiet a lot of troublesome ones and with chequered past.
I wish i had been less heavy on the miles with mine (just 40k) around 5-6K but i just love the car so much.
Its got to be driven [img]images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
Otherwise we will all end up like the paranoid Ferrari Drivers out there, a high milage car is 5K [img]images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]

I was offered £34k this morning against a £52k RS6 and thought that wasn't too bad for a PX.

Yes I know what you mean. I bought an 8500 miler in early November, and I'm afraid I'm failing to keep the miles down. It's just much too good to leave in the garage [img]images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] [img]images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img].
