If I had my time again I would save the right amount to get the right car, don't rush into it otherwise you can get a rude awakening!!! Remember, the RS can ramp up a v high bill if it hasn't been kept in top order ie Health checked every 6 months, oil change every 4/5K miles etc etc. Buy from an enthusiast and get it checked by a specialist.

We all know you are looking mate! :D

And as said don't rush it, get an inspection. I went to see one with eyeball on here and found a fault for him which saved him a good few quid. So if you can take someone with you with VAGcom or invest in it for yourself so when you go to see the motor you can connect your cable and laptop and see if there are any underlying issues with the car.

Yes they do chew tyres if you hammer the car, you could get through a set in a few months if you are really driving it to the limit on every journey and as said if things have been neglected a bill of a K can easily mount up!

A clutch and flywheel job will be a bit over a grand so it's not for the faint hearted this RS ownership malarkey.

Where are you based mate?

I bought Eastos car mentioned earlier in this thread after browsing for ages, it was about the £15k mark ( a little more with the B7 wheels) 72K miles and despite having a few marks on it I'm happy with that.

Looking back, its worth taking the time to view a few cars until you get a good feeling about one, definately check up on its past (searching on here for former owner's posts for example), and speak to whoever serviced it last. Inspection by someone who knows and a health check is also a must, and factor in possible costs... My first drive was to Tyremen for new rubber all round... before I even went home!! Contigo's right about instantly racking up a surprise bill. Go in with your eyes open and you should be OK.

Good luck with it... the grin when you find one you like is worth the wait!!

That new PH Avus car looks worth a look depending on number of owners.
[just checked it's had 3 owners]

Wheelbase looked after my RS4 in recent years.
The pr1cks didn't replace the thermostat when they did the cambelt so guess who had to... :?:
So you'd better ask them if they have on this one

lengster the nav IS <beep> but the TV function still impresses people 8)

That does look really nice, the seats look brand new, and the stearing wheel and gear knob are not leather are these things to worry about? A change of seats and wheels due to accident?

As for wheelbase do they have a good reputation?
