Another Wheel Topic - Advice please!

Post by Norrs2 » Fri Oct 02, 2009 11:17 am

I've just aquired and fitted a set of Wheels and there's some questions I have before I decide to keep them:-

They are 20" x 9.5 with an offset of 15 wearing 285/25/20 tyres.

The fronts fit ok - no issues.

The Rear -

1. They woudn't go on without fouling on the ARB. So we fitted 8mm spacers and that was suffient and they just fill the arches to maximum.

2. When we fitted the driver side rear with the same size Spacer, it actually came beyond the Wheel Arch. Recitfied by fitting a 5mm Spacer.

3. On the way home there are some bumpy bits on the road and on 3 occasions I could hear the left rear hitting the arch very briefly.

Questions;-

1. How could one rear wheel protrude out by 3mm more than the other one with the same size Spacer?

2. Is there anything I can do to stop this hitting the arch over the more severe bumps?

3. Will the extra 15mm Rolling Diameter make any significant difference to Speedo / Gearing
