help limp mode

Post by gezzerS4 » Sat May 30, 2009 5:22 pm

Hi,

Problems started yesterday in heavy traffic and hot weather, car developed a very erratic idle, normally runs at about 800 but kept dropping to 400, and then I guess the anti stall enrichment kicked in and revs rose to about 1200, anyway it kept pulsing like this, and the cats started to smell, probably due to all the fuel being burnt off.

anyway now have a serious lack of power, feels like no boost at all, obviously running limp modeI have done a vag com and get

17930 - Camshaft Adjustment; Bank 2: Malfunction
P1522 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17965 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation
P1557 - 35-00 - -

I cleared these and did a low power run and just got the 17965 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation
P1557 - 35-00 - - back

and have logged the boost request and actual with this result

Boost specified Boost Actual
Revs MAF Throttle mbar mbar
800 7.64 2.4 1010 1020
1520 10.56 3.5 1010 1030
960 13.44 5.9 1010 1030
1280 12.08 4.3 1010 1030
1160 15.03 6.3 1010 1020
1600 35.44 16.5 1010 1050
2000 49.42 20.4 1180 1120
3160 77.78 19.6 1080 1330
3640 2.75 3.5 1010 1180
2240 67.61 77.3 1910 1220
2880 107.81 87.1 2380 1450
3600 130.5 100 2350 1470
4320 162.44 100 2350 1460
5080 193.33 100 1010 1570

first column is revs, 2nd is MAF, 3rd throttle angle, 4th is specified boost, 5th is actual boost

What do the wise on here think the verdict is, duff N75 or a boost leak, the way the specified boost is jumping about leads me to think its athe N75, it and the MAF were changed by unit 20 about 2 months ago.

Any thoughts would be helpful, I dont like having a poorly RS :(

cheers

Do a pressure test .. Looks like a boost leak

I have got a pressure testing kit on the way, until then am I right in thinking that if I disconnect the N75 this will prevent the turbo's from overspooling as the wastgate will default to open.

Any advice
