Weight of OEM wheels and light weight alternatives
Weight of OEM wheels and light weight alternatives
Hi everyone knows weight saving on unprung and rotational mass is a good thing but does anyone know the weight of the OEM alloys or know the weight of any light weight alternatives such as BBS CH, CK or Oz wheels etc?
Also any idea how much weight you really need to loose from rims before there is any noticable difference?
Finally are some tyres much lighter then others, as everyone goes on about the weight of wheels but not tyres.

RE: Weight of OEM wheels and light weight alternatives
The weight of my OEM wheels (18") with tyres were 22k each. My new wheels (19") which are BBS reps are VERY light - 16.5k with tyres which
made a MASSIVE difference.
Below are a selection of light wheels:
BBS RS GT are light – 9.5k (wheels only)
Oz have a selection of light wheels
Sportec
Tyres – PS2 and Toyos are light, Falken are heavy
Hope this helps
Rob
PS I'm sure others will add to the list

compared to OEM they are light, the cost is low and they are very hard, no deformation issue...i had OEM RS4 hard wheels... 6 month later deformation + cracks
no need spacers, they are 9x18 ET20...but they are available in 9x18 ET15 and it's a better look

Hey Durit, that track looks vaguely familiar; is it Mas du Clos ?
I've lost count of how many French tracks I've driven - must be at least 15
