Thanks Contigo. How low is your bite now and how hard/soft is your clutch?
Mine is standard so far, and will probably stay that way... I'm a bit like neckrsulm now - my clutch is slightly heavy and the bite feels a little high, but after driving for a while I don't notice that as much, and I drive mine every day

After having the new one fitted it's much harder now. I find the RS4 clutch quite hard and sometimes release it too quickly which results in a kangaroo type pull away. The missus finds it really difficult at times.

When it was going the clutch was very high and felt very light/soft.

mbeelle - my bite is quite low, like Contigo's it's sometimes easy to release it too quickly - I am wondering if mine has been recently replaced :?

I have to make sure the seat is adjusted well to allow pressing the pedal all the way down.

I can imagine my wife would struggle with it but it does feel reassuringly tough and with some practice you can drive it smoothly.

Another bonus is that your left leg will become as strong as your dominant right over time!

Cheers Contigo & neckarsulm
I think it is inevitable that my clutch is going, hearing about the yours especially - I would feel quite reassuring that my clutch is good if mine felt as yours does; currently it is starting to feel very high, to the point where, changing into some gears, the car engages the gear fully just as I have fully released the pedal

Grizz told me he does a lot of RS4s... might give it to him to do for me - end of the day, car is standard anyway so will only be standard clutch... :-)

The standard clutch is fine if you upgrade the power anyway, mines 450+ and although never tracked or drag stripped has been 100% spot on,box is another story though always been notchy at best, and i know its bang on as its been rebuilt twice under warranty the second time they renewed almost everything to do with 1st 2nd and reverse and it feels the same as it ever did.Not sure what miles yours has done but i had a new clutch put in mine at 50k when they had the gearbox out more as a precaution the old one was as new apparently bit gutted really but peace of mind i suppose,my clutch has always felt normal compared to other cars its the box thats firm so i guess there all a bit different eh

A good test for you mbelle is as follows, take real care when doing so but it should tell you if you need a replacement.

When the car is stationary, ensuring there are no unmovable objects in front of you... Put the handbrake on, and foot brake if you can. Put the car in 6th gear, and slowly release the clutch... If the engine wants to stall your clutch is fine, if it slips you need a new one.

To cheer you up mbelle, just think to do the job on an S4 it would cost the same money, wouldn't you rather spend the money on your RS4? 8)
