First, great board with good info and members.
Like many of the latest posts, I too am in the market for a good quality B5, willing to pay that bit extra for an example that has been well looked after.

The car in question is apparently is spot on – if i was looking this would be the one I would have.
The car is low mileage, cams have been replaced (cost a fortune) and has a VERY high spec!!! Don't worry about the car not having a warranty – you can buy a comprehensive one privately for about £500-750.
100 miles is nothing for a car like this – I travelled 160miles and it wasn't as good as this 1!!!

i've actually seen this car and it is 100% straight the seller Paul has bills etc. and he has maintained it to a very high standard you won't be disappointed! the reason i went to view it is because my brother was thinking of buying a B5 but he opted to get a big saloon. hence reason why i didn't go for it. from what i understand someone is in the process of negotiating a deal on this car - not sure if that is you however, if its not and you want an honest excellent example then get your skates on!

Audi main Stealers advised there was a bit of wear, I was flush, went with their recommendation to change them whilst they were in there and saving future labour costs.
Perhaps they might have seen me coming!!
See if anyone else on this forum has had this issue as stealers reckon it's fairly common as these 2.7 V6 engines suffer from slight oil starvation.
Either I've been suckered to the benefit of the new owner (and the Stealers) or you and others are unaware of these wearing over time.
Over to the mechanics to explain I'm afraid.

Bad luck! But something a bit whiffy about that. I'm no mechanic either, but wear on the cogs just don't seem right at that mileage. That level of oil starvation to cause that kind of wear there would surley have damaged something else too surely.
Lovely motor though, worth every penny! Probably a bit cheap!

Like I said, I'm more than happy to admit they caught me with my pants down!! But whilst they were in there..... (the engine, not my pants
At the time, as I never intended to ever sell her, I'd just replace anything as advised and I did know you had to do more than just the cambelts when changing them, so did it. Read others on here who have found out this hasn't been done with theirs ie. only the belts were done, but nothing else.
Problem is, I was not on this forum then as I would have most certainly asked for advise on this. Ah well, I'm here now.
Thanx, I personally think (and IMHO) I'm giving her away at that price, but needs must and she's priced to sell.
If I'm extremely lucky, I can build a relationship with her new owner so one I can buy her back. I doubt they'll let her go, but here's hoping!!
