I've been thinking about something similar as i have removed the front fog lights, i have a cunning "spare" switch that i could use for such a security mod. Most people wouldn't think twice about having to switch on the front fog lights before the ignition works...

Another job for the weekend!

I gave up leaving nice cars in airports, just couldn't relax on holiday, the London airports are all pretty secure. How do they get out of the car park for a start without a ticket? the main worry is people coming and going \ scratching the paintwork (Tesco's style  )

Best bet is a trusted friends garage surely? out of site, out of mind 8)
In descending order:
E46 M3 (fun, but common place)
TVR Sagaris (axe murderer in the wet)
Porsche 996 911 (no soul)
Porsche Boxter 2.7 (boring)
Audi RS2 (looooved it, except the bills)
Lotus Elise (fun under 60)
Audi S2 380 BHP (X2) (big bills, big hassle, but major fun)
VW Corrado VR6 (took 2 miles to stop)

Some of them require you to leave the keys - there is one in Hayes like that - and there have been stories...

yes the ones where you leave the keys are dodgy, for one anybody could be driving joyriding your car, and they stack park them bumper to bumper.....stick with the ticketed ones and you'll be fine imo

Doug said
how do you think thieves steal new cars with ecu immobilisers?

Just plug in a box and then they can use a screwdriver to start the car.
Is this just a VAG thing, or are other manufacturers cars as easy to steal too ?

If it's just a VAG thing, I'm surprised our insurance premiums haven't rocketed, or have been made uninsurable unless a 3rd party immobiliser is added.

btw, the car survived Gatwick Long Term parking for a week - none of this ' we'll park it for you sir ' mullarky for me :)
