Talk about luck

Post by rs4boy » Mon Dec 15, 2008 7:29 pm

Driving home today bmw m3 all over me i let him pass as my car was a bit cold, then he slow down back to the side of me, so he wanted to play. I know i should not of as i say the car was a bit cold but i could not help my self, i gave it the beans and the clutch just slipped alot, backed off and the clutch pedal was on the floor, it was hard to get out of gear so i pulled over to have a look could not see anything just burning clutch smell, got back in the car and the pedal had come up a bit. So i drove home slowly, on the way home over the time it took to get home the clutch pedal came up a bit at a time until by the time i was home the pedal was back to wear it should be. Has anyone had this or know anything about this.
Regards
Jason

I had a similar thing many years ago with a golf VR6;pressed the clutch one morning to put it in first and it stayed there, coming up a bit after a while.
Turned out to be a leaking hydraulic cilinder.

It happened to me and my friend too.

You slip the clutch, it burns and stays pushed. Then comes back to normal.

Definately Clutch Slave Cylinder or Master Cylinder. Seals are leaking.

Just to let you chaps know it was the pressure plate which was the cause of the problem, but when the gear box was out i had the clutch changed as well. So thanks again to MRC

Glad to hear you got it sorted

Did you go for the stock one in the end?
